Is Bernardi the best/cheapest online store to get a six pack of oem oil filters at?

I know Walmart'a Super tech are cheaper, but I just want to use OEM till my warrenty is up.

Don't sweat the OEM filter. There are better choices out there for the same money, such as PureONE, Wix/NAPA Gold, Carquest Blue. All of those are constructed using metal instead of cardboard like the OEM filter made by Fram, and will withstand an extended drain well.

 

I'm not sure how much bernardi sell them for, but www.handaaccessories.com sells them as well for pretty cheap.

 

Your warranty does not tie you to a brand of oil filter - that would mean that even pulling into a quick lube place like JiffyLube will void your warranty. Does not make sense.

 

Agreed. There's no requirement to use Honda filters or oil for warranty purposes. And quite honestly, they'd be low on my list.

 

Yep. From what I have heard honda oe filter = fram, and fram = avoid like the plauge.

I like the PureOne.

 

If you follow your maintenance schedule often it will not matter what your filter is made out of, paper or not. I'd suggest Bernardiparts buy in bulk. Depending how much you drive, 6 filters can last you maybe 2 years.

i ordered from collegehillshonda.com in the past. usually i order something else and throw the oil filter in the order to save freight.

 

I recommend Mobil 1 filters, but I would use a NAPA Gold or any other quality filter over the OEM. Don't get me wrong, it works, but why not get a quality filter?

 

M1 filters are nice and I use that sometimes on my hobby cars, but I just use oem cause if its good enough for the manufacturer, its good enough for me.

Plus it's cheap and usually comes with the crush washer so I don't have to reuse the old one or go find one that fits.

 

im the same way, when i had my blazer it was ac delco filters only. now that i bought my fit, i am using nothing but oem filters and mobil oil.

 

College Hills Honda has the Filtech OEM filters. Much better than the Honeywell (Fram) OEM filters. That's what I use and where I get them.

 

Supertech oil filters will suit you just fine. It will NOT void your warranty.

Me too. If I have an engine failure, they can't blame it on the oil filter. In the unlikely event of an engine failure, I would rather not have to fight it out with lawyers to get it fixed. Filtech OEM filters are just fine for me and I can afford them. After my extended warranty runs out I will probably use Purolator filters.

Hyundai's 100k warranty requires you to use an OEM filter, and document your changes.

 

The only way the manufacturer can require you to use an OEM filter is if they give it to you for free. Otherwise it might be highly recommended but you're free to use whatever you want as long as it is equivalent to OEM.

You have to document your changes, but as long as you are using the correct grade of oil and the correct filter at the correct change interval, it meets warranty requirements.

And any manufacturer requires you to document your changes.

There is some truth to why Hyundai recommends OEM filters. Back in the late 90's Fram spec'd their Honda filter with a higher bypass PSI for a Hyundai engine because the threads were the same. Some folks grenaded engines when the filter starved the engine of oil, and a lot more people complained about excessive engine noise. Fram actually did not have a filter for Hyundais on the market for a few years. Ever since then Hyundai has been cautious about non OEM filters, and Fram in particular.

Another reason why Fram is the orange can of doom.

 

I guess they must have sold them out. I ordered mine few weeks ago and got them within a week. Amazon is always conservative on wait time.
