Hi welcome to fitfreak! The mpg gauge on your dash is optimistic by about 5mpg. So you are really getting about 42mpg. Hey 42mpg is still excellent and our Fit is not even hybrid

Also I forgot, the best way and more accurate way to calculate your mpg is manual calculation by dividing the gallons you used to fill up your tank by the miles traveled from full tank to whenever you decide fill up again.

Oh yeah no doubt about it. 42mpg is excellent . I remembered when I was filling up when gas was over $4 a gallon. A lady came to me asking me about my Fit and how her son love to have one. Then her face changed after she asked me how much will it take to fill up my car. When I showed her the gauge and mentioned to her that is past E (empty indicator). She was upset lol because she paid almost twice filling her minivan.

I got 49 MPG highway from MD to FL with 2009 Honda FIT Sport AT/VSA/NAV. However, I used hypermiling technique. This is an actual MPG. AVG guage showed 55 MPG. I think it is awsome. FIT is not even a hybrid. I LOVE it.

I too love our cars mileage and we don't get dirty looks from people who don't drive Hybrids, ever notice that, I do. I mean yeah, a Prius gets better mileage than we do in the city and its a bigger, heavier car, but on the freeway, we're about right there with em', but without the "smugness" that they seem to always have on their faces while on the freeway. They also have a certain look too, either old people or that unshaven, back pack wearing, sandle sporting hippie look

Surely that has something to do with your foot or paddle-fingers? I've put 13K on a 2009 base Fit, and my average MPG over all those miles (city/hwy/mtns/etc.) is over 35.

I have put 20,000 on my 09 Fit and my average mpg is 34.7!
If you have an iPhone or iPod touch i recommend that you get the Gas Cubby app. Its pretty great if you like keeping track of your cars maintenance and costs.

All you do is enter the mileage, cost per gallon, and gallons purchased at the pump and it calculates your MPG. It shows all that info on a list and line graph for you. I can see that in the winter months my MPG actually went down drastically and that 1 brand does better then the other! You can get really detailed in both MPG and maintenance tracking.
You can even set reminders for maintenance and stuff.

Its free if you get the one with Fram advertisements in it. Check it out if you can.

Wow, i have spent $1,547.85 on gas in one year.

I get an average of 35MPG but I can get 45MPG consistently if I feel like driving for it. What fun would that be though?

I'll be reporting my first numbers shortly. I'm totally green to my Fit as I just picked it up Monday eve. I automatically ignore the cluster's MPG calculations. :P

Not holding my breath for this first tank's results as we're currently doing break-in. e.e
