The Fit's Dunlop SP31 tire, some interesting reading

All:

Not much is out there at all on this tire. Most OEM tires (from personal experience) are not of best quality. Thanks to Google, I did find some interesting reading on a Hypebrid car forum, apparently, these tires are a low rolling resistance (LRR) tire that are to aid in fuel economy.

Here is a link to the Tire Rack's page for these tires (no reviews of yet).

As pointed out in the forum above, there is no mention of the tires on the US Dunlop site, I am too tired to try any foreign language ones right now.

The funny bit is the almost identical tread pattern to the Nokian i3, which is supposedly (also new) a good LRR design tire. I have bought Nokian (used to be Nokia before the split of the phone company) tires for years.

And to "tnfit", their US offices are in your backyard in Smyrna, TN.....

They sure handle well for LRR tires.

I looked up these tires when I first got the car because I thought the OEM tires for the NA Fit was a Bridgestone tire not Dunlop. I searched all over I couldnt find much info at all on this tire. Nothing on the US Dunlop site or Japanese Dunlop site.

Just checked Dunlop's German, Dutch, and French sites, did not see this tire, did see an SP30 tho.

My question is, how long will they last. The OEM ones (cannot remember series) on my wife's Camry did not last long at all, T rated Bridgestones have been on the car since. Were a terrible tire too.

The Nokian i3 isn't available in 195/55-15 that the Sport comes with.

I've used Nokian winter tires quite a bit - Hakkapeliitta 1's are in my garage at home right now, mounted on 14" steels that'll fit my Fit for next winter.

Ah, not on the i3 page, but on their US page, look again...

Note, these tires are rated M&S in the US only.

I had a set of Rollster summer tires and some 09 Hakkas many many moons ago (when the Tire division was still under the name Nokia, long before the phone days, about the time I bought their stock too, but that is another story ) on my old Volvos. Great tires, the Hakkas would take my Volvo 144S sedan on "jeep trails" quite well, who needs an SUV now really?
