Fit earns it's 5 star safety rating!

4 days after the purchase of a 2007 Blaze Orange Metallic we got taken out by a drunk driver (Halloween night). Crash happened at 70mph, when we were pushed off the freeway, hit a ditch, rolled, slid on the roof, hit a change in terrain which launched and flipped the car. The aftermath......

Thanks for sharing. Those pics make me feel better about long trips. I'm assuming everyone in the car was ok? Now go buy a new one

That's one bad crash but the most important thing is everyone walk away from it.

You don't know the half of it, my wife was in the passenger side and you'll notice the window is completely broken. She has a small bump and scratch on her cheek. Seeing as unbroken glass doesn't cause abrasions, it would have been a very different story without the curtain bags.

I might still need some physical therapy for some lingering back pain, and we're somewhat bruised up, but I can't really complain at all. And we are in the market for another one --anyone selling a fit sport manual relatively cheap in California?

I heard the gen 1 is safer and holds up better
in minor fender benders. The gen 2 has really no rear bumper.
Not sure if this is entirely true but in kind of makes sense.

Thanks. You probably did see it around. I was only able to enjoy it a few days before the wreck, but the previous owner lived off Irvine Blvd just barely outside Irvine.

I was rear ended while stopped in traffic by a 70 mph hydro-planer on the damn cell phone. My Fit earned its keep that day. Didn't even have a stiff neck. Looked up in the mirror and saw it coming, braced into the seat and she crumpled up like a cheap beer can, just like it should.

Glad yours did her job too.

Amazing!!!... Take care of your back....If it is screwed up it can cause you grief big time as you get older, and keep you at wake at night.... I hope you and your wife have no lasting effects from your ordeal and you find a good replacement car.

Sorry to see what happened to your awesome Fit - but that car did its job on that day by keeping you safe. Hope you can find another one and
get to enjoy it for a lot longer!

Holy Jeez! Glad to see you and your wife are OK! The Fit looks like it held its own against that nasty crash. (I could really imagine it from your description) Life Ftw!

Looks like you had a lot of goodies in there too, sk2 knob, jdm coin, mats, battle scarred sport grill... Gettin a new car will make ya happy!

Good to know your GD did its job keeping you and your wife alive. Very good news

Although yeah I agree, it would've been a different story if it weren't for the side curtain airbags. I wish we got those!

Advice:
Check your neck afterwards; chances are it'll probably become sore in the next 2-3 days. Stay safe

Wow! You deserve a few weeks rest IMO - at the other guys expense. I would need some time to think after something like that. Its good to see you and your family are okay.

Holy crap, the Fit held up amazingly. Half your windows didn't even shatter.

Did they catch the guy or did the asshole just keep driving?

Mann, the CHP had 5 of the 7 plate digits. Basically didn't even make an effort to look for him at all.

On a brighter note, just too delivery of a white 07 fit sport.
