Exclamation Q/Info M-Factory close ratio gears

I have been looking into keeping the fit NA for autocross and I saw that T1R and M-Factory had a close ratio gear set but Jason from AJR told me the T1R close gear set is now discontinued. So i Emailed Steve at M-Factory and he said this is made specifically for AutoX/Time Attack and this will make a big difference from our stock gearing and will keep you in the upper rpms
(Your ideal powerband)
He also said it was more popular with overseas Fits. I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with these gears on a FIT.
Here is some Info

Honda L13/15 FIT/Jazz:
3rd - 1.285
4th - 1.030
5th - 0.886

SO HOW MUCH POWER CAN I GAIN? We could talk about the benefits of gearing till we're blue in the face, so to keep this simple for the non-technical customers out there, or for those who just want to know the numbers, here are some examples of just how much power you can gain.

Vehicle: USDM Integra Type-R
Gear Ratio Peak Engine Torque ETE ATG Power Gain
OEM 1.458 3rd Gear 122lbft 122lbft 783lbft 0%
MFactory 1.695 3rd Gear 122lbft 142lbft 910lbft 16%

OEM 1.107 4th Gear 122lbft 122lbft 594lbft 0%
MFactory 1.384 4th Gear 122lbft 153lbft 743lbft 25%

OEM 0.848 5th Gear 122lbft 122lbft 455lbft 0%
MFactory 1.210 5th Gear 122lbft 174lbft 650lbft 43%

ETE: Engine Torque Equivalent (How much torque an engine with a stock transmission will need in order to accelerate at the same rate)
ATG: Actual Torque to the Ground (This is what your car really puts to the ground. Dyno Graphs show torque with a 1:1 gear ratio)
%: The percentage of Torque Increase between the Stock Transmission and the Custom Transmission

yeah i remember when you got that and posted about it. the gear set is 3, 4 and 5th but i think i will keep the 5th stock for highway sake.

he told me to get the LSD too.

I am using the Mfactory 4.7 final gear myself. I was thinking to get the close ratio cross gears but I wanted all around performance from 1-5th gear that's why I chose a final drive. IMO I will use the Mfactory 5th gear too unless u drive on highway ALL day long. I've been using the big final drive & LSD setup for over a year now, and gas mileage remains the same believe me or not(with/without using a more free flow T1R muffler/test pipe).

And yeah I would recommend getting a LSD from the guys at Mfactory too.

For small engines like ours, it's always better to have a tighter than usual gear setup to help on acceleration(that's what I asked Pat@ Mfactory for & what I tell people)....IMHO even at 5th gear. I just love to have that kinda throttle response from the car all the time.

yeah i wish i could get on a track like the video's you posted awhile back. (that was great stuff) the closest track we have here is more of a country club and a membership is $2000. they do have track days every now and then but not every often and its $175 for a few hours.

i would get the final drive for that kinda road course but with auto x you rarely even get into 4th and 3rd sometimes.

Do you have a lighter flywheel? i would like to run one with this setup.

with gear set up and LSD so far its $1449

Id start off with clutch, lightweight flywheel, LSD, and stiffer motor mounts(DIY with window weld). The close ratio gears wont do much in autocross if you arent even getting into 3-4th gear.

That's why I chose a bigger 4.7 final drive instead...

And I shaved the original flywheel, I think it's light enough & rev up & down nicely enough that way.

they new course we have its bigger so there is more 3rd gear pulls and 4th would have to be used on back roads .

im going to try and stay away from stiff motor mounts because the vibrations drive me crazy

I filled in the side motor mount with 3m window weld and it stiffened it up a bit and I get no vibrations. Im about to pull the rear one off and window weld it. Ill post pics when I do it. Trust me I had horrible vibrations with stiff mounts on my last car.. I wont deal with that again.

FYI - using the close ratio gears will probably bump you into a more competitive class. i don't know which class you intend to run in, but you might want to check the rule book if you want to auto-x seriously.

That's one good point here. However I think it's more fun to race a Fit in H-stock. It doesn't seems to be that competitive running in other classes. I just autocross my fit for fun during the summer now. So running in SP or SM doesn't matter to me. I spend more time doing lapping event now anyways.

What I meant is the fit doesn't seem to be that competitive running in classes other than H-stock anyway. So if redrumm is serious about autocrossing the fit then he gotta decide which direction he wanna go.

I just thought F--- it. I just put in the stuff I wanted and I can enjoy them every single day. Whichever class doesn't really matter to me anymore. I can just go out & practice whenever I wanted to!
