Wheel/Tire size questions...

So I'll preface this by saying I'm so glad I found these forums a while back. Have had some great help with getting my headunit installed as well as some other minor tips, tricks and tweaks I've done to my Fit.

I've been looking around, here and online, and have been thinking about ditching the factory wheels and putting something else on. Problem is, I've never purchased or done this before and really don't know where to start to begin to even understand what my Fit my fit.

I do know, I'm not looking to lower the car or have to do any body modifications...

So would basically any 15" rim with any R15 tire?

I'm not even sure I'm asking the right question at this point. Just curious and looking for a little guidance.

Thanks!

First you need to pick out the wheels you want. The tire size depends on how wide your wheels are. Typically you would fit a 205/50/15 tire on a 15x7 wheel. Just as an example.

I think the car comes with 16" wheel and wonder why would you want to go for 15" and what do you want to get out form a different tires?
Better mileage? Better handling? Looking better?
Cause don't really know what you are looking for don't know what to advise.
But don't get too wide tires since the "manufacture" is 185/55/16 if you get something like 225/45/16 when you true you might actually bumping your tire to your "dirt guard or may be even the suspension. if you want better handling (do you want stick to the floor better or quicker response) etc etc. the bigger the rim is the better it looks but the lack of response it will get you.

I was just going off the ownerlink page which said 15". It's a 2008 sport with the alloy wheels...

As to what I'm looking to get out of it, mostly look, but without destroying the mileage. If I can get look and better mileage that would be great. I've heard that changing the wheels can mess with the handling as well...something I'm not interested in happening...

Appreciate the feedback thus far!

The OEM size is 195/55/15. If you get a set of lightweight wheels like the Enkei RPF1, I guarantee that your gas mileage and handling will increase.

Lighter wheels = Better MPG
Wider wheels w/ wider tires = Better handling.

For if you went with a 15x7 RPF1, I'd recommend getting 205/50/15 tires. The offset is entirely up to you. I would opt for the +35 for the wider stance, but the +41 is sufficient enough if you're not planning on tracking your GD3.

I wish I knew what most of that last part meant. Think I need to do some more google searching to understand tire specs and offsets etc.

Honda makes an Accessory wheel that is 6.5" X 16" with a 55-mm offset. The Honda recomended tire for that wheel is 205/45ZR16. I have an 07 and I'm running 205/50ZR16 tires.

This is what the wheel looks like Honda Alloy Wheel: 16" (Fit 2007) - Bernardi Honda Parts and Accessories

It looks like your just looking for a rim that will change the look of the car. If you went with 15s you could reuse the tires from the old rims as well. as for offset I probable wouldn't go any lower then 40+/42+. If you have a 08 the other thing your going to need to think about is the TMPS sensors. Your going to have the sensors switched from the old rims to the new ones.

195-55r16 on 2011 Fit Sport/speedo cal?

I just upgraded from 185-55r16 to 195-55r16. Everything is great, and the cruising rpm is about 5% lower. The front airdam scrapes a whole lot less, which is good. I expected the speedo to read the same 5% low, but it is still in perfect agreement with my GPS. How does the speedo sense speed that a tire change would not affect?
