Sold my 09 Base for a '10 Sport today
Went into the dealer for a discount oil change today, and they gave me such a good deal on a '10 Sport that I could not turn it down. $800 off sticker and KBB trade in for my 09. Really like the extras the Sport has, and the auto tranny is not one bit slower than the 5 speed in my base. Rides better, and looks a whole lot better. I should have bought the Sport last year instead of trying to save a few bucks.
Yeah, but I had put chrome wheels on it. Even at that, the factory Sport ones look better. It was tough getting it, since the dealer, a large dealer, only had 1 Fit in stock, and it was black. Took all day for them to find another one I wanted, from another dealer. Seems nobody has any Fits in stock. Wonder if Honda just isn't importing many or if the dealers don't want a "low" price car with less profit.

That comment just made me cringe
Anyways, Congrats on the Fit Sport. I agree its a lot sharper looking.
What color did you buy?

Honda Fit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On 17 July 2007, Honda announced that as of the end of June more than 2 million Fit/Jazz units had been sold worldwide since its introduction.[1] Japan accounts for the largest percentage of sales, with 962,000 units sold in the home market. Europe is next with 417,000 units. The U.S. accounts for 77,000 cars since introduction in 2006. Honda expected to sell 33,000 vehicles in the U.S. for the 2007 model year, but exceeded these expectations and sold 40,000. Honda plans to put 70,000 Fits on the U.S. roads for the 2008 model year.
In the first half of 2008, Honda and other manufacturers were surprised by the rapid shift towards smaller cars in the United States. Sales of Fit during the first five months of the year jumped 64% compared with that of 2007. Production of 2009 Fit for the United States market was to increase from 60,000 to 80,000 cars. Further increase in supply for the United States market is limited by Honda's production capacity of 500,000 a year for all markets.

Basically, North America gets "screwed" because Europeans are willing to pay more and Japan is it's home country.
That's one great thing about hondas... good trade-in and resale value. If you traded in most other brands you'd have gotten hosed!

so did you have to end up paying for the oil change on ur base? lol!
you said it rides better than ur 09? isn't it basically the same car?
800 off msrp is a great deal. the dealers over here are too busy marking the prices up. And you're right, it's hard to get the Fit that you want. Honda allocates their inventory of fits (and other scarcely produced models) to those that do well in sales and move their inventory.
the dealer i bought from, who had the "Honda President's award" (which apparently helps greatly with vehicle allocation) 2 years in a row, had 13 new Fits in stock at the time i purchased. 3 other dealers in the surrounding areas only had 1 each in the show room.
90DGRZ....They ate the oil change, and I got a full tank of gas, while the one I traded in was empty. Not much, but every bit helps. It has 16 inch wheels and wider tires than the base. I am not sure, but I have heard that the suspension is a little stiffer. I do know it doesn't nose dive around corners as much. Could be the wheel/tire combo, or suspension, I don't know. It just works. After a couple of days, the mileage is only about 1-2 mpg less, but then it is still not broken in. Got 37 mpg with the 5 speed Base.
committeetobefit...As far as the chrome goes, get this: My father was an engineer for DeLorean when they were making cars in Northern Ireland. A bank in Dallas ordered one...every piece of body panel was 24kt gold plated. The stuff was so soft they had to keep the parts, and when completed, the entire car wrapped in soft covering to protect it. I imagine that thing was never driven. ( DeLorean was a real crook...cheated the staff, my dad included, out of massive salaries owed to them. After the legal problems with his "deals" were settled, he went on the church speaking circuit, making mega bucks claiming to have "reformed." Never reformed enough to repay the salaries he owed his staff, however)
Sport has a RSB which will help with handling and may be what you are feeling with the suspension. also the wheel tire combo will make a slight difference there too. Sounds similar to the "deal" I got on my altima. Was up for the 30K Mile service which was a $500 Service... Waited and traded on the FIT so it was like saving $500 more on the FIT.
Hows' the noise difference between the 5MT and 5AT? I'm guessing that your Economy will remain the same... Better on the highway but less in daily driving due to more rolling resistance. Should balance out.
Congrats on the upgrade to the sport.

hard to tell on the noise difference since I am using the A/C all the time now that it has reached 100 degrees in Phoenix, but on the few times I had it off at night, seems quieter. The paddle shifters are a nice toy, but I don't expect to use them much. Certainly is smoother than the M/T.
