Ill get some pics after work tomorrow they all turned out really good i was surprised,
and they are all coated nicely.

There is no real texture, they are very smooth looking, i will get some closer pictures tomorrow, however it is kinda weird due to the rubbery feel of the paint since it is a plastic coating kinda. I think it is good for a nice temporary change up. I would recommend Plasti dip to anyone who wants to try it. If you mess up it can be peeled off at anytime

Go for it!
even if it looks bad plasti dip can be peeled right off after you put a slit in it. It is not hard to do, and looks pretty good for a temporary change.

How good do you think other paint would stick to the plasti-dip? Maybe use the plasti-dip as a base for something else?

Its funny you should mention this. I thought about that before i did it, and first thing when i got home i applied plasti dip to a smooth piece of wood to make sure i could peel it off without harm. Then i sprayed more and when it dried i covered it with some krylon spray paint. let that dry and tried peeling it off. It still came off but it was a little hard to peel. This might have been due to the fact i only did one small coat of plasti dip though, The thicker the plasti dip the easier it comes off. So on my wheels i added three or four coats to make sure it comes off easily and smooth.
But i am confident that if you used a few coats of the plasti dip as a base that you could then use a plastic safe spray paint without it reacting with plasti dip. It has to be safe for use on plastics though or it could leach through and ruin the under surface. I found a thread earlier on google though and they had the same results. It is safe to paint over plasti dip as long as you only paint thin coats on top of it and not use alot. It allows you to still be able to peel it off afterwards.

Here is the google thread i was reading earlier,
http://9glancers.com/index.php?topic=5543.0

He paints his engine parts with plasti dip then paints over it with real paint. Read this and it is very informative.
Anyways i hope this helps

well i went out and washed my car today cause it wasnt raining,
Here are the up close pictures with the plasti dipped wheels so many of you have been asking for,
The pictures make them seem kinda dull, but in person they are alot darker looking it might have just been the way the sun was. :P
Oh Btw the wheels were still wet ahah

How do you apply the plasti dip? Is it a spray or brush on?

It is basically like spray paint, just use the same way. No primer required just use thin coats and let dry and it slowly builds up into a nice finish.

Im pretty sure they can be clear coated, but i dont know if it would look the same. I have read that the plasti dip likes to just absorb clear coat and it makes it look bad :/. but im not sure i havent tested it. Im also pretty sure clear coat would make it harder to remove after if you tried too. I know on my paint over the plasti dip tests i did just in my garage it made it harder to remove because the plasti dip simply did not come off as a latex glove thing anymore. It was more broken up and didnt peel nicely, it still came off it would just be difficult.
As for white centercaps and lugs. that would look good but i have no centercaps and i will think bout changing up the lugs :P
Hope this helped

Wow looks nice. Cheap way to change the color on your wheels. Did you have the tires off when you did this or did you just tape it all off?????
