Mugen vs. stock exhaust db level

Hi, Guys. Sorry if I'm repeating a question here, but could someone give me an idea how loud the Mugen exhaust is vs. the stock second gen Fit exhaust? I'm a 50-year-old college professor, and while I'm looking for sportier, I'm not looking for loud. I don't want to sound like a 16-year-old with a fart pipe, just a guy whose Fit seems a little more ill-tempered than all the other Fits. Also getting leather and Enkei RPFs. My wife thinks I've lost my mind. Thanks.

You likely have lost your mind, but that point is moot here as we are all in the same boat. This appears to be the most accurate depiction of the Mugen exhaust, which I will have on my car soon for verification:

Thanks, BB. I've watched that clip probably 50 times, but without being able to listen to an accompanying clip of a stock exhaust I'm still nervous about pulling the trigger. Keep me posted once you get your exhaust installed. Ears on the ground would be a big help. The only thing worse than having my wife think I've lost my mind would be having to explain to her why I paid for the Mugen exhaust and then paid to switch back to the stock.

You're also close enough and I frequent Chattanooga for day trips regularly enough that you may end up being able to hear it in person.

I've installed the Mugen exhaust on my son's GE8 (I've got a GD3) and if there was 2dB difference in volume, neither my son not I noticed a sound level increase. The Typhoon K&N intake made his car significantly louder than the exhaust.

That's helpful info, Jodele. Thanks. Did you and your son like the exhaust note of the Mugen before you installed the K&N?

Don't worry. For 1st gen Fit chassis the Mugen sport muffler & Fujitsubo Legalis R muffler are known as two of the best built & "quiet-est" setup. And some guys would agree that the 2nd gen is generally quieter than the 1st gen even after u put on an exhaust, probably thank to the different exhaust manifold & downpipe design etc on the 2nd gen.

I use a Mugen muffler with stock header & b-pipe, with a T1R test pipe on my 07' Fit. It only starts to get a bit louder after I changed it to a test pipe, while it gives better mid-rpm pull while going uphill & much quieter comparing with the SPOON N1 muffler I had before.

Mugen sports muffler would be a great choice especially if your 2nd gen is an automatic. Since I don't think Fujitusbo made a Legalis R muffler for the 2nd gen Fit.

The K&N Typhoon was installed first...that was still lowder than the Mugen exhaust...
