Newbie here/looking for info...

Hello,

New to the forum. I just purchased my 2012 Sport/AT last month. I've looked through the manuals for information on "break in", but I cannot seem to find anything. Does anyone know where in the 2012 owner's manual (page number) this is located? Thanks in advance.

I am looking at purchasing Clazzio PVC covers and would like to know if anyone has located perforated vinyl that matches the inserts. I'd like to use it for the cloth area on the door panels.

Has anyone got the XM Snap in their car? Opinions?

Mike

I have Clazzios with leather inserts.

The material would be too thick to work on doors. I tried using an even thinner vinyl and it would not conform to the panels.

I bought this black matrial here on Forum. It is now on Ebay as well. It goes well with my Clazzios

The clazzios are black with blue stitching not grey

Manufacturer says to drive with the break-in oil until your maintainence minder tells you to change the oil (life at 15%).

I haven't gotten to that mod yet, but I was thinking a perforated leather like the Clazzio's, from your experience that wouldn't work either?

Yes, that's what I was thinking of as well, but in PVC.

The pocket where your elbow fits is the problem. Anything thick like Clazzio of PVC will not fit in there smoothly. Just too many curves.

Bought my Fit two days ago. As I was walking off the lot with keys in hand, the salesman told me to take it easy on cruise control and excessive braking for the first 1000 miles. He also brought up the oil change information posted above.

Hope this helps.

Hi Mike,
I bought a 2012 Fit Sport two months ago and like you I couldn't find anything about break in. The first thousand miles i went gentle on it. Right now I got 80% on my oil indicator and I won't change the oil till it gets to 5%-10%
The one thing I don't like about my Fit Sport is the road noise. Way too loud. What do you think?

Its in every owners manual I've seen:
1. do not hot rod engine when cold. don't lug it either
don't drive at steady rpm for more than 5 minutes
3. after fully warm, occasionally accelerate engine to 4000 to 6000 rpm fairly quickly and drop back easily. That prevents having a ridge in cylinder wall lower than it would be if you rev to 6500 rpm. That ridge is hard on rings. damage leads gto okilleraking past rings and loss of compression.
4. By 1500 miles engine is 'broken-in' and you can treat engine normally, except still no hot rodding when engine is cold.
At firstoil change and fiklter use synthetic oil foir best results and change oil and filter every 6000 miles. Do follow valve setting schedule.

Many people on here have commented that the stock Dunlops are a poor tire in many respects and different tires make a big difference in reducing road noise among other things. I'm planning on getting something like the Continental DWS 205/50/R16's once I wear out the stock Dunlops.....really looking forward to putting a wider tire like these on as the stock tires just look way too narrow to me.
