2014 GTI Carbon

VW is doing a limited edition GTI with the 2014 MKVII with less weight of 440 pounds wil be close to Fit's weight.

The seventh generation Volkswagen Golf has just been unveiled and now we’re all waiting to see the official details on the new GTI version. However, until then we may have a few more good news for you: it looks like Volkswagen is also preparing a lightweight performance version of the GTI.
The new model - rumored to be called Carbon GTI - will be built with the extensive use of carbon fiber and aluminum and will be about 440 lbs lighter than the standard GTI. In order to obtain this amazing weight reduction, the front bulkhead, windscreen surround and floor panels will be made in lightweight aluminum, while the roof and bonnet will be built from hi-tech carbon fiber.
Under the hood we will see the same 222 HP turbo 2.0-litre engine as in the standard GTI, but thanks to its lower weight, the upcoming Carbon GTI will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds.
The new Golf Carbon GTI will be launched in 2014 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Volkswagen Golf and will be built in limited edition.

Ford Focus ST or VW MKVII GTI same price range but a lot of difference in power but not sure if there is that much difference in performance. I always like hot hatchbacks it seems like they are making a comeback in the US. Maybe the Fiesta ST will be next.

Interesting info but a bit weird. id assume most people looking to buy this would probably just go with the golf R. prices shouldnt that be that far apart.

Still would rather have a MS3 or WRX for that price....plus there's that legendary VW reliability and easy repairabilty.
