Carbon Fiber Hoods

I'm thinking of getting one but i kind of want some more input about them first. If you actually have or had one before my questions are

Who is the maker of the carbon hood?
How is the fitment?
Have you had any issues with it? (fading, cracking, splitting, etc)
How long have you had it?

And i guess anything else if someone wants to add.

I had one on my old 5R Teggy. The maker was Ings+. Fitment was perfect. I still have it collecting dust in a spare room, was on the car from July 2004 till January 2008 when I sold the car. The only problem I had was it started to fade due to my car being impounded for 4.5 months and just sitting out in salt air and humidity and not being able to care for it. I polished it afterwards and it looked alright, but it was just never the same. It could use a complete stripping of the clear and then reclear to bring it back to like new finish.

I plan on picking up the new J's bonnet in all carbon versus just carbon top/fiber bottom, for whatever reason they took the all carbon one off their site in the past few days. Though first I am going to check with First Molding because that is usually who makes J's carbon pieces.

I bought a used seibon mg style hood from hondafittuner.com, the fitment on it was great, pretty much oem in my opinion. I've had no issues with it whatsoever, no chipping or fades. Only problem was that since i bought it used there was a scratch it it, other than that great. Have had it for over a year, but dont run it anymore, going for a different look.

I think that keeping them well covered in wax is very important to preserving the clear on carbon hoods. My friend had a Seibon on his Tiburon and the clear basically started to disintegrate because he didn't take care of it. I also want to get an OEM style for summer to replace my battered stocker. I would just rather not pay 700-800 bucks for a real live JDM Spoon or Js. VIS or something similar is fine by me...

I just ordered my Seibon CF hood from Ill Streets on 04/02/10. It is to be delivered this week and my friend who owns Red Sun is putting it on for me. I went with Seibon because of the article in Siphon where they used it on TW Fit and they said it was the OEM which worked perfectly. My friend has a Seibon on his Honda Acccord. As stated the main important factor in a CF hood is conditioning. You have to take care of it or it will have issues. My plan is to use it this summer for my car shows and then I will put the stocker hood back on in the winter. I have a garage so storing it will not be an issue - I saw a car this weekend at the show that had a full front end body kit and hood and he has had it for a few years but it still looked brand new - he said he keeps it conditioned and has never had a problem.

Cat :x

Somehow i knew you were going to win something at that show Cat, congrats! Hondatuner seems to have the best price going on a Seibon OEM style hood at $417, just gotta save my money for awhile....

Ok I think that cf hoods look bad unless on black cars. But I would get one rather than pay to get the rock chips fixed. The cf hood is cheaper than oem and some people make them and sell them here do a google search for it and it should pop up. To each their own but I think only black fits can pull off the cf hood unless there is alot more cf on the rest of the car IMHO but go for what makes u happy
