wannabe fit owner
i've long been a fan of anything Honda for years and have long since convinced the vast majority of my friends and family to buy honda products.
Not able to find a MT Honda product in my price-range that was in decent shape, last august i bought a 2003 Mazda Protege5. 'Twas amazed that it barely bettered the feel of my old '86 Honda Accord. Clutch has less feel, shifter isn't as precise, handling limits are higher, but the feel is significantly less substantial. Driving comfort is only slightly better, fuel economy is worse, stereo is a vast improvement.
All in all, my interest for hatchbacks/wagons has turned into a love on par with that for the MT...my only problem is that i'm not driving a Honda. friends and family nearly disowned me when i came home in a Mazda...and while it's a nice car, i'd replace it in a heartbeat. never said that about the old '86 Accord...even without a/c, cd, power-steering, or a functioning front passenger door, oil-leak bad enough Jiffy-Lube turned me away, over-heating problems, rust, the constant smell of gas in the car, and a relationship that ended (in part) because of the car.
Give me enough time to escape my debt and buy an engagement ring...then a Fit will have to replace the P5.

I have been driving clunkers since i could drive. I get the worst of all the hand me downs cars since i am the middle child and a guy. Hated driving just because i have to baby the car and milk it for all it is worth before it ends up being undrivable. Friends would bash me on my car etc. Of course those guys are not my friends anymore. I am too good for them now... LOL
Finally, i saved enough money to get a cheap car since i needed something more realible for work. Was originally going to get a Scion Xb but kept getting either a "i love it" or "i hate it" comments. Then heard about the fit just a month before the release. Was hesitant to get it cuz 16k is still a lot of money for me. Waited for price to drop only to find out the invoice is about a $600 difference and that the best price i can get is just msrp. Now it is rediculous as the price jumps to over $1000-$3000 msrp. Luckily i kept searching and found the color i wanted at msrp in July. 3 month search.
Love the car, fits me like a glove. When you tell them it is a honda there is no "What you bought a honda?" comment. They only say wow. SHow them the folding seat and they go crazy. The only car theat is this unique on the inside. Yes the outside looks the same as every other hatchback.
No one will also ever call you a cheap bastard for buying a fit. I heard that comment for buyers of ford, kia, and chevys.
So trade in your MAZDA and get the FIT. I think you get better gas milage on the car also. So in the long run, you will offset the cost of it. #2 reason i got the car.
Reasons to get the FIT
#1 fun
#2 unique folding seats
#3 gas saving
#4 compact
#5 quality
#6 so many extras
#7 girls dig it
#8 guys dig it ( but i dont swing that way)
#9 moms love it (my friends' moms cant get enough of it)
FOR YOU, take off #7 when u present the argument to your fiance as to why you should get the fit. LOL
