New Fit owner
(that is, the new owner of a Fit, not the owner of a new Fit!)
I just picked up a 2007 5-speed Sport in Vivid Blue Pearl--marking the culmination of several months of research, narrowing the field of five-door hatchbacks to three finalists (the others were the Mazda3 and Ford Focus). The Fit ultimately won out, holding slight advantages in fuel economy, reliability and versatility.
The car is replacing an aging (1987) Accord--which actually is still in decent condition (with just 130K miles), but I just needed something a little more interesting. The Fit will primarily see use as a daily driver, perhaps with an occasional autocross (I'm a fairly active member of the Porsche club) thrown in for good measure.
Having driven the car home from Houston to Denver (some 1000 miles), I've had some time to get acquainted with it. And I have no complaints! Well, OK, one: The shifter, while quite precise, feels a bit light and the throws are a somewhat long. Nothing that a short shifter and a nice, weighty shift knob can't fix!
Anyway, this forum was a great source of information as I researched these cars, so now that I'm also an owner, I just wanted to say hi...
