The back part of my 2009 sport fit is getting beaten up - putting bikes in and out, sitting on it etc. I think i have seem rubber looking protectors that go there, but I can't remember for the life of me what they are called. Anyone have any recommendations? I have a picture of the part I am would like to be covered.

I bought some 6" wide traction tape that you would use on stairs. I got it in a roll from TSC for $5.00 or $6.00. Then I trimmed it to match the curve of the bumper and stuck it on. It works very well.

What is TSC and what did you stick it on with please?

 

The one Honda sells is basically traction tape cut to fit the bumper-- I have a small tear in mine from moving bikes, furniture, etc. in and out. I also got another one which is a bit heavier--though still not as good as the heavy duty rubber ones you see on Subarus and other SUV's

I do not if they are nationwide or not. Obviously their customers are not big city folks. Their customers are suburbanites and country people.

I have also seen this stuff on a roll at Ace hardware. You can buy 3 feet or so and that is all you should need. It is self adhesive. Just trim it to fit, pull the backing paper, and stick it on . I suggest that the bumper be clean of dirt, wax, etc. I would wipe it down, probably with alcohol, before installing. I have seen it in gray and black with a sandpaper type finish and a rough non-sandpaper finish. I understan they also make white and clear. I just used some off of a roll that I had around here.

Here is some 6" wide on a 30 feet roll. This one is the gritty (sandpaper) type. It also comes in 1, 2, and 4 inch widths.

Thats the rear of my car

 

That looks great timemachine, I was thinking of ordering the OEM strip on Amazon but it looks like the traction tape works just fine.
Was it at all tricky to put on? There are several comments on Amazon from DIYers that got bubbles or had trouble getting it exactly straight.

I use to work at a graphics shop and the trick to aligning is you tape down the Applique with masking tape and adjust it to where you want (before removing the backer) . Once you are satisfied you tape it even more to secure it down. Then you lift one side of the applique and remove about 2 inches off the backer and cut the backer off. Then you tape it to the car and from the bottom you unroll the backer and it will give you a perfect application.
