Question Annoying dashboard squeaks and rattles

I have a 2007 Fit and am finding that over the past 2 winters there have been a lot of annoying squeaks and rattles coming from the dashboard. This year, with the cold weather arriving there has been even more rattles appearing from different places- especially when the car is not warmed up. Is this a common issue for all GD Fits?

I have this issue sometimes. Not sure why it happens though.

My dash rattles as well, more so in the winter than in the summer. I've heard from quite a few people that this happens with their cars in cold weather too so i'm sure its nothing out of the ordinary.

I heard the noise you mentioned and I found if I pushed down on the dash near the window it went away... but since it doesn't make the noise as of late I don't know what to make. Perhaps a foam shim could be wedged in somewhere to correct the vibration.

I noticed the rattle once or twice in the summer when I was parked in the sun. I pressed down in the dash just like you but closer to the cluster just behind it and to the right. Haven't had the issue since.

Plastic contracts in the cold. My dash only gets annoying in the winter. I have little pieces of cardboard...I shove'em in every time I find a squeaky area.

Yeah what your experiencing is normal. Most all the GD3s have the annoying glovebox/dash rattle. Its one of the top complaints in the "what you DONT like about your fit" thread, funny enough.

I've found it helpful to sometimes drive with the glovebox open. Its much quieter that way. And yes, in the winter it gets worse as plastic hardens slightly.

Mine used to do this, but during the warranty period, I had the dash removed three times to address the issue. Apparently it was something behind the radio.

See if the black plastic cowl beneath the windshield is loose (outside the car). Its clips break or go missing. Replacing them didn't help in my case, so I silicone (Goop) glued it down. All quiet now. The glue is removable.

My 2016 Honda Fit EX, does have a rattle on the drivers side, coming from the dash. Mostly hear it on cold mornings. Once the car/cabin warms up, I can usually make it go away by just gently pressing around that area.

But to be honest? I've never owned a vehicle that at some point did NOT develop a squeak or rattle. As long as it's not too intrusive, I just ignore it.

The Fit, has a primarily plastic dash assembly, I'd be more surprised if it did NOT develop rattles or squeaks during winter months and/or temperature changes.

I suppose it depends on how loud, how consistent, the rattle. But with mine? Usually it just takes a gentle press around the drivers side cup holder area, and the rattle goes away, until the next morning when it is cold again.

I can easily live with this.
