Question for owners regarding noise

Hi, I am considering purchasing a 2009 fit and am wondering if current 07/08 owners have any issues with road noise or rattling of the dash? How does it handle after a year of driving?

How does it drive over potholes on a dirt road?

solid!

The fit is a SOLID little car! You hear road noise but less than you'd expect for it's size. It doesn't rattle, mine anyway, and handles bumps like a much larger car. If you were blindfolded you'd never guess you were riding in something so small.

I'm 08 owner
Road noise: good on local street, acceptable on highway
No dash rattling (the old Fit has very good interior fitments)

The 09s should be better about road noise (consider they have thinner tires)

if i can be honest, there's a lot of road noise. hondas in general usually score pretty poorly for road noise, at least when reviewed by consumer reports. and my dash DOES rattle; it started the day i drove it off the lot. but i still wouldn't trade my fit for anything.

1 year and 4 months so far. No dash rattles. Road noise, meh. Its there, I just turn the radio up. When the tires wear out I'll get ones with better (less) road noise to help. Only thing thats still distubing after all this time is hearing the fuel in the tank sloshing around now and then.

My solution to road noise: Turn up the music.

If you want a good comparison, find an '06 Scion xA. If you roll over a rock, it feels like you drove over a railroad track. The roughest riding car I've EVER driven. The Fit feels like a Caddy in comparison.

And ALL Hondas have road noise. Deal.

Be happy you hear that sound b/c the tank stays full longer!

I've never been able to hear any road noise since day one I've been blasting music in my Fit whenever I'm driving. I still remember the day I drove my Fit from the dealer to my house, was blasting The Strokes - Last Night and thought the Fit's sound system was sooo good.

Anyway, music blasting = problem solved.

Oh yeah, no dash rattles at all for me. My sister's CR-V feels like an earthquake 24/7, though.

my 08 FitS has occassional rattles in the dash when the temps drop
below freezing, but really no issues otherwise.

i run a megan exhaust and like driving with the window cracked so it
doesnt bother me.

if the rattles got louder with the engine rpm, that would definitely
suck though.

I've had mine for 14 months. There were no rattles when I bought it, and there are still no rattles at all .

The road noise is noticeable, but not objectionable.
I still love it just as much as I did when it was new

No rattles from me. Solid, drives well - even through the twisties - and road noise is louder due to less/no sound dampening. Better than a prius and the road noise level varies a lot depending on your tires, and how much air you've got in them. If you run the stockies with the recommended 32psi its surprisingly low noise for a car of its class. You could not compare this to a 25K + car though.
Personally I used to drive a 30K car and aside from the loss of luxuries, its not a car that i personally feel i sacrificed a lot to drive.

Nothing extremely noticeable with radio volume at 6.

My girlfriend has a Scion XA that I've spent plenty of time driving, and I absolutely agree with the above statement. I couldn't put it better myself. The XA also has steering that is so slow, it takes away whatever potential for fun there was in the car. The fit's handling is so superior to the XA that I don't think you can compare them. Love the Fit!

ditto most of the others.
No dash rattles and car is put together very solidly.
It is a Honda though, and Hondas have do have more road noise then other cars in comparable classes, but not really much more. I'm very happy with mine.

It seems these days you can get a quiet car, but a cheap interior finish, for around 25K. You can probably get a quiet car with a nice interior finish for somewhere around 35K. Or, you can get a very reliable, reasonably quiet and fun car (Fit) for a lot less than 25K. My hubby wanted me to get a RAV4, and sure, it's quieter, bigger, probably safer than the Fit. But inside? I was surprised at how cheap Toyota has gotten. All the plastic is hard and cheap - the glovebox has a plastic hinge. All the little touches that Toyota used to give you - gone. Even the "Limited" version wasn't any better.

I guess if I stepped up to the Lexus line, I might get a good interior AND a nice quiet ride. But for that kind of money?? I got a kid ready to go to college next year, and I'm not into status symbols.

I've honestly never considered a Honda simply BECAUSE of the road noise. It bothers me in an Accord, it bothered me in a Pilot and a CRV. But in the Fit, I can live with it. It sort of seems...right somehow. This is a European car and it feels and drives like one, although they'd be getting even better mileage out of it. If you get a 5 spd, you'd feel right at home on the European motorways.
