Hi,
we went out and bought a Fit yesterday. 2008 with 113k miles, 5600 bucks out the door.
Paint is rough, the driver door glass is scratched, stone chipped windshield... and the auto tranny appears to be leaking... its coated in light brown fluid similar to whats leaking from my 98 civics manual trans but the ground under it doesn't appear wet.
Its the wife's cars, so I can't take photos right now, but I knew the trans on these cars is a weak point... honda dealer said probably 3500 for a reman one from Honda... i think I'll do ebay and pay 500-600... IF it fails.
What are the two different 5 speed auto's which I keep seeing? Is one just the CVT being called a 5 speed?
It goes into reverse easy enough, (I heard if it thunks going into reverse the trans is on the way out)
I'm hoping to check all the tune up items tomorrow and see where the car is so far as maint. These have a timing chain right? so.... pretty much don't worry about that?
I'm also going to pickup some genuine ATF from the dealer very shortly and prob do a trans fluid "flush" (dump fill dump fill 2x I hear).
One thread just said do a trans dump every oil change (works to a 'full' flush every 25-30k miles) thoughts?
