It's that time we all hate - battery's getting weak. It's on the OEM one, which is around 4 yrs now, so it's done its duty well. For my 2009 Fit, AutoZone carries the Duralast Gold 151R which will set me back $141 and change. Rated 340 CCA 5 yr warranty. It tips the scales at 22.5 lbs.

Due to the tiny capacity of the 151R and its weight, I'm considering upgrading to a better battery, such as a racing lithium or other appropriate type. One I have heard works well is the Odyssey PC925LMJT. I see it's slightly heavier at 26 lbs, but has a bit more CCA of 380. The biggest factor is its design lifespan of 8-12 years. If it lives up to even half that in DD operation, that would be great!

It's selling for $160 free shipping from Odyssey. My only concern would be how it sits in the tray, and any alteration of the cables to fit correctly. Their notice - Installation requires battery to be installed on its back side and rotated 180°. Make sure terminals have sufficient clearance. Vehicle battery restraint(s) may require modification.

How big of a pain will it be to get it in properly and safely?

 

I got the OEM from the dealer for maybe $115, but Odyssey makes a very good battery and that price sound reasonable.

 

I ended up getting an Everstart Maxx 340 CCA 151R from Walmart, but be sure you get some battery post thimble lead shims. The OEM clamps won't get tight no matter how hard you try unless you put the shims in them.

 

after two dead 151Rs in less than 4 years. I went with a Optima Yellowtop d51r, never looked back. Bye bye dimming headlights everytime the A/C cycles.

Recently I noticed my battery seemed to be a bit weak

Checked the electrolyte and it was low in about 3 of the cells

after filling it seems to crank easier but not sure if its just my imagination

Probably will be looking into new battery soon anyway since mine is 2 1/2 years old as it is.
