I've got a 2017 civic LX. It's nice except the seat is destroying my back. The lack of lumbar support, forward canted head rest, and overall suppleness of the foam makes me miserable.

I like the features and price point of the 2018 fit. Would the seats of a fit be more supportive/comfortable than in the civic?

 

if u have short legs the fit's seats could be considered comfy.

with some mods the GE's seat was decent. but no lumbar support i can remember.. i never needed lumbar support.
i have long legs vs my arms so the fit is not the most comfy car for me.

 

Sorry should have mentioned I'm 6'3" and about 185lbs. Long arms and legs.

I think the civic seats would fit me better if I was shorter as well. The seat has a hump near the top that also pushes my back out of alignment.

 

You should drive it & see.

Did you not test drive the Civic? Every car fits everyone a little differently.

The only two cars I've ever found truly comfortable were my 1991 Civic Si with OEM seats & my friend's 1999 Civic Si with a fixed back FIA certified bucket seat. This is evidence of two things: My back is TRASH and everyone is different.

 

I test drove it, but didn't notice the issue until driving it for more than 20 mins at a time.

 

Ask for a long test drive. When I test drove a 2018 Civic Si last month they offered to let me take it home for a weekend & get a feel for things.

I'm a 25 year old dude who rolled in in skinny jeans, a T-shirt, high tops....in a 20 year old sports car that looks like an extra for 2Fast2Furious.

If they'll offer that to me on a brand new, high demand car....you should be able to pull off the same.

It's funny I see this after I got my 2018 Fit. I was debating between the Civic hatch and the Fit, and I honestly thought I was going to go civic until I took it home. To clarify I am also 6'3 without shoes/ 175ish lbs, and I have to wear clod-hoppers for work. The civic drove amazing, it was a 2017 as well, but something was bothering me that did not in the fit.

After taking the better half for a drive in both she had a similar complaint! It was the seats. My back felt better in the Fit. I also felt like i was in a tighter cramped spot with the center console seeming to be considerably larger in the civic. I wanted to play with the turbo, but in the end we just simply felt better in the Fit.
I am able to 'man-splay' easier and with the telescoping/ adjustable steering wheel, an issue I run into often with my knees like I did with a 2014 VW Jetta I previously owned.

I am all legs, so surprised me.

 

A couple of months ago, I switched from my old Civic to a Honda Fit 2017. Read about the seats. Noticed they were firmer than the Civic (old and new) but no issues - until I bought it and drove home. That's when I started to experience discomfort where seat met butt. Lucky for me, a $24 gel cushion solved the problem. The seats in the Fit 2017 are definitely on the firm side. The headrests angle forward too - might be uncomfortable for some people. I strongly recommend test driving for a minimum of 20-30 minutes.

For me, the seats in the 2017 Civic were more comfortable. The difference was noticeable during the test drives. I love my Fit but I sometimes think wistfully of my comfy Civic seats.
