I bought my ‘15 EX 6-speed new in september of 2014 and clocked just under 35,500 miles up until today. After driving it in boner stock mode for the last couple years I decided that i’d Like to lower it and switch to 15” wheels so I Started collecting parts- springs, struts and wheels/tires etc..
The 2015 had some quirks but overall I loved it, yet I was a bit tired of the silver paint, the sunroof and a little annoyed by the start up rattle, clunky radio and mid rpm studder.
just a few days ago while driving past a Honda dealer I decided to test drive a 2018 6-speed sport to see how much they’ve improved. I was blown away by how much smoother and refined it felt! After todays back and forth I paid $5200 for the upgrade (not including licensing or tax). Now I’m going to slap those parts on my new Fit and hopefully not void my fresh warranty!
Super stoked that I thought to take some side by side pictures!

And they still have the hideous, totally useless red plastic pieces on the hatch....they should be lights...or at least reflectors. Black PlastiDip is a quick fix

That's just Honda's attempt at going for the Volvo look. I painted mine to match the rest of my car.
Does the Sport model have a different front hood? Or is it just the angle of the photo and the grill garnish difference. In the photo, it actually looks shorter.
Either way, I do like the Sport front end look better. Looks more upright and aggressive.
To me the back ends? Kind of a wash. They seem to of actually toned down the look of the back end with the Sport.
Sort of, once again- the opposite. Front end on the sport, more aggressive, back end less.
I may actually like the back end of the EX better. I like the more distinct, prominent bumper.
the sport is a base model with body kit so i think its fine. i know id be scratching my head without keyless entry and push button start since i hate pulling out my keys in the winter time with my gloves on, but besides that, even the EX has no heated side mirror so..not that perfect either.
in warmer climates may not be so bad. if i was going to mod the car, id get the MT sport, lower it, 17" wheels, tint, and axleback. call it a day.
I don't know.
I bought a Honda Fit EX, mostly because I wanted the sunroof. And I do like the sunroof. I like the ease and convenience of the keyless entry, and the push button start. It is nice to simply have the fob in your pocket and be able to enter your vehicle and simply push a button and drive away.
But we are spoiled.
For decades, and decades, cars had keys, and you used them to lock your vehicle and start your vehicle, and really? It wasn't that bad.
The idea that I couldn't live without the niceties of The EX? Is kind of ridiculous. They are nice.....until they break down and you have to repair them. Then some of those little task reducers, become huge repair bills.
The technology added to vehicles make them nicer, but also make them more complicated and more expensive to repair.
One of the most reliable vehicles I ever owned was a 1990's Nissan Small Pick-Up, and part of that reason was it had nearly nothing extra. It was like driving a model T. Nothing fancy to break.
You can't even really buy a vehicle today, that is that basic or simple a machine.
They are safer.....better machines overall.
But now? There is so much more to worry about.
@fitchet:
I share your outlook. How will we survive if/when all the gadgets stop working?
Years ago, I invited a group to a rustic picnic in the woods, clean air and such; they declined because they wanted to watch some survivor-type TV, you know, about outdoors!
I remember after getting my 2015 EX, I would grab the handle of my 2004 4Runner that my wife now drives and wonder why the door wasn't opening. How quickly we forget the past...
Wow you went from Keyless start to Key start and you are missing out on the 2018 EX with Honda Sensing and the Mirror Camera. I would get a 2018 EX
i’ve been having some issues with the starter button occasionally not working on my EX. I hate sunroofs and really didnt care for the honda sensing features. I also have a 2018 outback with eyesight and I usually just shut down all those functions when I drive it. That stuff is more annoying than anything. For me, the fit is my beat around town car. I use it for hardware store runs, dog hauler, swap meets and light truck. manual shift fun car, park it anywhere etc.
35000 mile 2015 Fits seem to have like a 10-13k private market value - which means they have to buy it for less.
Brand new Fit Sport is at least 19k?
They gave me 12k for my trade and I paid $17,200 for the sport 6-speed which had been on their lot for a few months. They were ready for it to be sold. They already have my trade listed for $16,999! Crazy!
