Headlight Restoration

My 2012 Fit is showing the dreaded oxidation on the top of the headlight covers.

Found this and plan on trying it soon...

And then if it is really bad here is the next step...

Interestingly he does NOT recommend using any clear coat products. Instead he recommends using 303 Aerospace Protectant and reapplying every six months.

I don't find that using 303 even once per week adds the protection necessary. Our Fit's headlights were yellowing again within a couple of months.

I'm now using the Meguiar's headlight coating. It doesn't last forever either, but it last 10x longer than just using 303.

Once you've removed that factory protective coating, it's hard to keep the headlights from turning more often. The real solution is likely to have them professionally clear coated with a good UV clear coat.

When the '11 Sport AT was relatively new, I bought and applied clear plastic sheets from Headlight Armor (did the Fit, Tundra, Civic, and a Jetta). Although it doesn't cover everything on any of these headlights (a professional could easily do it better than me), I covered +90%. At this point, 7 yrs later, all of the headlights have remained clear. The FIT, Tundra, and Jetta sit outside in full sun year-round in Pennsylvania. Not sure of the results in Georgia (hotter / more direct sunlight) if you would use the Mother's system to take off the hazy surface and then immediately cover with any of the plastic sheet systems like Headlight Armor.
