Fit Splash Guards - I need your input!
Fit Splash Guards - I need your input!
Hey all,
We were just discussing this here at Honda Parts and Honda Accessories from Bernardi Parts yesterday and I thought about posing this question to you all...the driver's of the Fit.
Why does no one install splash guards on their Fits? I know they only work on the base model so that excludes all the Sport owners...but are there really that many more sports than bases?
We sell 6 - 10 times more splash guards for other models a month than we do for the Fit!
So whats the deal with these? Any and all input would be appreciated. They can't look that ugly can they
Thank you!

Based on the posts in these forums, there are a HELL of a lot more Sport Fits running around than Base models. If there were splash guards that fit the Sport, you would sell a lot of them. Because of the weather/road conditions in my area, I would add guards to my Sport if they existed. On the other hand, some Sport owners would hate the look of guards. I hate the look of mud on my fenders.
To each his own, but I would only want black guards on my BOM Fit. The guards frame black tires, and I believe that black would be a good contrast with any body color. However, they would be very easy to paint yourself, and not painting to match all body colors would reduce manufacturing cost and retail price.
Honestly I think they ruin the look of car's.Every car I've owned that had them,I took off within minute's of getting home.Plus I see people all the time here in Florida with them, and they don't seem to make any real difference on the amount of mud/dirt on the car.
All of my vehicles have mud flaps all around. With 5 months of snow and salt I remove 5 lbs. of salty snow b4 I enter my driveway.
My LX came with front flaps and I added 2 aftermarket to the rear. I see many brand new cars with gobs of crap all the way back to the front door sill.
Rust just waiting to start.

Guys - if I had a base Fit I would definitely own a set of mud flaps - I know that if they were painted the same color as the body that would be more in tune with what most people would buy. If you made them for the Fit Sport in the body color - I would definitely purchase some for my car. My garage is off a alley way that has a little bit of mud before I get to the main road - that mud splashes all the way up on the doors and body sides - mud flaps would keep that from happening. Being a Ford Ranger truck owner - I know the value of mud flaps especially living in West Virginia.

Here's my two centabos: I own a base Fit and at one time considered getting one. The only drawback over the okay cosmetic look about it is that it creates wind drag first behind the front wheels then the rears. I'm sure MPG will be affected by it. It also increases the interor sound from the wind as well as sounds of every little pebbles/rocks your tires picks up and spits back towards the mud guard. I do like the looks of it, but not worth the negative functionality of it.
ehhhh.. i agree and disagree with you LOL. i had them on my del sol, and it didn't make any noticable difference in noise/loss in MPG
to anyone considering producing OEM looking splash guards for teh sport fit, if you make them, you'll make bank!!!
