how much mpg did it decrease by? i didnt know lowering your car can decrease mpg...i haven't notice any difference for mine..

it probably decreased because maybe the tires you have on the weds are heavier, meatier, and have more contact patch on the ground than your 185/55 stockies, in turn increasing the friction btw ur tires and the road. and maybe ur tire pressure was low?

but..in anycase, it shouldn't have ONLY given you 50 miles from half a tank!!!!
having a rack with a fairing decreased my mileage (per on-board comp) from about 38 to 32. sigh.

The circumference of the tires will throw the computer and your speedometer off. Wider and or stickier tires increase traction and decrease gas mileage. Low tire pressure can make a loss of 2-3 MPG. Of course air friction, mechanical (dirty plugs and other issues like dirty air filters) problems and weight are always suspect.
