but... Why is our thing even called VTEC if it doesnt even advance timing or whatever... all it does is open some more valves? The old skool VTECS actually have 2 camshafts and then when the performance one kicks in it "pop"s then the car gets audibly louder.. That is correct isnt it? unless im an idiot and need to study in auto I class more...

 

what kind of "old school" are you talking about? The 95 Civic EX had a 1.6l SOHC Vtec

 

Do you realize how slow our 109 HP car would be if it wasn't for VTEC? lol. From my observation, the VTEC on the 1.5L has a smooth transition while the older VTEC are made to open at a certain RPM. Also, have you noticed that engine redline RPM have increased over the years? hahaha

 

Vtec is not synonymous with performance. It's a general name describing many different systems in different applications.

gimme - do you have a good set of tools on hand? i don't have anything to install, but if i can go, i could bring some tools. i have a standard craftsman set, torque wrench, jack/stands, ramps, big air compressor (maybe 35 gallons?) with tools - impact tools, paint gun, etc...

actually, whatever you drink would be fine. i drink almost everything but coors light
