Let's talk Avatar. SPOILERS

So I thought it was amazing. But I say that ONLY because I saw it in IMAX 3D. I don't feel the movie would have been as great had I not seen it there. Or at least in 3D. The main point of the movie to me was that James Cameron wanted to prove that 3D could have a major impact on a movie.

Don't get me wrong, the movie has a lot going for it, great action, drama, sci-fi, and it's funny too. But had it not been in 3D....Well, it wouldn't be as great as I think it is now.

I watched it sober. 7/10, and thats only for being CGI. You'd have to be a Starcraft tree hugger to enjoy this crap.

I loved it, too. Generic story line, but it was told in its own style regardless. It was a movie Cameron had in mind since he was a little kid and I think it came out great. Idk wtf Evan's talking about, graphics were awesome.

..well, then again, I watched it in Imax 3D so.....

I intended to cheap out and go to the 2D screening (and see it at a later date in IMAX 3D), but when we got there, the next showing was 3D, so there we were, and I'm glad it worked out that way. Avatar is a typical Cameron film, and really breaks no new ground on plot or structure. But, it's probably the first 3D movie that actually uses the technology effectively, avoiding 3D effects just for the sake of effect. Sound and color were often used as gimmicks when first introduced. I enjoyed it more than any of his other films, and will probably go back for a second viewing in IMAX.

IMAX 3D is the only way to watch this. It feels as though you are there in the jungle with them.

I'm actually kind of hesitant to buy this when it comes out on Blu-ray until a point in time when 3D TV's and the 3D version comes out on Blu-ray. It wouldn't be the same.

You're right, it wouldn't be the same. But I'm definitely not skipping out on buying the blu-ray regardless. I need it in my collection ;p

Saw it yesterday. Pretty good movie through it was a bit slow in the middle. I saw it in 3D and the effects were very good.

I want to go watch this at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood. It's got a special version of 3D that was setup by Cameron.

Cinerama dome should be awesome. The Pocahontas/Avatar script joke isn't far off the mark, but Avatar is a hell of a lot more intense than anything Disney has ever done, especially in 3D.
