Edited: This thread was created out of pure anger towards law enforcement. It has now been resolved and cleaned out. I, koolkevin1107, takes full responsibility for my actions and my anger. I was wrong, everybody else was only being suggestive. I should have listened and now I have learned from my mistakes.

Tint ticket was FIXED without removing tint. And no illegal work was done, just one nice CHP officer.

And california law states NO TINT IS ALLOWED ON THE FRONT WINDOWS = 0% = none at all. Doesn't matter if ur jurisdiction says 70%, i've confirmed it with 15 cops, all say 0%

Yet another reason to not live in California. I would just change out out the tint, get it signed off and call it a day.

I know the cali laws and i do comply with them... MOST of the time. but cmon tint? There is no such thing as "legal" front tint. it's none or ticket.
Which is the point. You have to pay to break the law. Either you break it or you abide by it.

No tint at all? That's super lame. Sry dude, good luck. Cops like your friend at the CHP are miserable.

Also, just switching plates might not work, what if they check the VIN. Most tickets I've rec'd had the VIN number listed.

That's not true, 75% is legal in CA on the fronts. Might not be the case for your city/county but that's state law.

I chose 50% fronts 5% rears and the fronts look legal because of the contrast.

Is it really worth saving $20 to put this thread out to the interwebs and risk the (albeit probably very low) possibility of being convicted for fraud instead?

EDIT: I would take down the thread, you named the specific Police Department you went to, all it would take is ONE person to see this and be peeved enough to give them a call and describe your car and what you're trying to do. Not smart.

I'm not up on CA laws, but I know in AZ what you're discussing is a misdemeanor, and certainly not worth it. Good luck in jail if he decides to check the VIN.

How would CHP write off your ticket if you borrow someone else's GD3?

KK - can you sell fog vinyl and key ring lights from jail? What are we going to do while you are incarcerated?

actually CA law is no tint at all in the front. some sites say 70%, but chp site says none

Can I put after-market tinting on the windows of my vehicle?
The main requirements for legal window tinting in California are:

  1. The windshield and front driver's side and passenger's side windows cannot receive any aftermarket tinting.
  2. If the rear window of a vehicle is tinted, the vehicle must have outside rearview mirrors on both sides.

Stop whining, and don't leave California for Maryland. If you want a story of real harrassment, check out this story (be sure to watch the video): Motorcyclist jailed for 26 hours for videotaping gun-wielding cop.
