I came across a young girl who is dying from leukemia and does not have long to live. If everyone can please step up and be a potential donor to help save her life. Her name is Janet Liang and shes 22 years old. Please see her plea and sign up to become a donor. All you need to do is send in your cheek cells to see if you are a potential match once you receive the kit.

Thank you guys for doing this....at least you stepped up to the plate to do this. I wish I would have done this earlier. I hope more asian people will step up to do this since we are low in the bone marrow list of donors. Thanks to all who do this....I really hope she finds a match and be cured.

 

Just mailed out my kit yesterday......hope more people get involved with this.

 

Wow this is strange... I got a call on Friday morning regarding a possible match for a 22 yr old girl with leukemia. I'm going in for the blood test tomorrow... I REALLY hope this is the girl!

Thanks for making this sticky, I really hope more asians register to help her. Everyone should be doing this since it can help someone else regardless. In Janet's case we need more asians for a closer match for the bone marrow and the asian community is low on the radar for being involved in bone marrow registry's.

I don't know much about bone marrow. Does a match follow ethnicity? In other words, will she only find a match among asians?

 

Heres what I found be searching whether its right or not it seems a lot of the same answers are like this.


"Race, or better yet ethnicity matters when it comes to finding a matching donor. Searching patients are most likely to find the best match within their own race or ethnicity.
