Insrance.

Hey, got my plates for my Fit today. I bought the LX 5speed manual. With my full discount (read my wife's full discount) the total annual cost of insurance is $1317.00(Canadian). That's all purpose, $500 deductable and $200,000 third party liability. Basicaly the minium I can buy here in Manitoba. But with the insurace as "pleasue" deduct another $150aprox. off the total.

What you you guys paying? What about those Fit owners in BC?

BTW, I am the first person in Manitoba to insure a Fit.

You can't really compare rates from Manitoba to BC....the coverage is different, plus, the risks are much different...

This neat car is too new! I ran into 2 problems, TD bank's Auto Loan will
not have this car priced until maybe May. And our Autopac has to insure it as "Unclassified" whatever that means. Sheesh. Made a down payment and
can't finalize a loan and hard to insure it. Will that stop me?

All our cars are covered with $2 million in third party liability. $200,000 doesn't cover much IMO.

My rate better be much lower than that. Our 2000 Odyssey costs us almost 1/2 that, and with a max of 300$ deductable on everything. My Integras, with possibly the worst theft rating possible cost much less than that.

Do you have two drivers covered on one car for that price? Any other cars on the same policy? Is your house insurance on the same policy? IIRC, we are paying 2700$ for home, 3 vehicles and 2 drivers.

Maybe our rates in Ontario aren't that bad after all.

Here in MB there is no "2 drivers on that car". It's public insurance. For the 95' cavaliar we have we pay $750/year.

I forgot to ask, any accidents or speeding ticket/other infractions? Also how old are you?

I'm 31 with a squeaky clean record, no idea how I've survived. * knock on wood *

My wife is 33, and never a speeding ticket or accident. My record has been clean for over two years now, but she gets a 25% discount where as I only get 5%. I'm 31 years old too.

Is there much of a difference in insurance cost between the base and the Sport? I've heard (but not checked) that it will be higher for the Sport.

Would be funny/stupid. It includes an alarm, yet the body kit and wheels will offset it? Rubbish.

I just plugged my info into State Farms website. 500$ deductable, depreciation coverage, 1,000,000$ liability, 55kms to work, 25,000kms anually worked out to 1372$ per year with our 2000 Odyssey EX on the same policy (an extra 910$ per year).

Considering we actually have 3 cars and a house under the same policy (my broker can't get me a quote just yet on the Fit), and that we are currently paying under 800$ per year on the Odyssey (with 300$ deductable and 2,000,000$ liability), I expect that the Fit will cost us closer to 1200$ per year.

Not bad considering the amount I was paying on the Integra the Fit will be replacing.

Ask him how much his plates cost. IIRC around 250$ per year, and their drivers license isn't cheap either.

Plates in Quebec = 7.5% of fit's value = 1500$
Vehicle Registration about 255$/yr and driver licence about 86$/yr if no tickets.

It's pretty cheap

I love my new red Fit!! Got it on friday 28th after waiting 2 weeks...
The only thing I hate is the bumpy floor under the driver seat.
I'm used to place my left foot there when driving on highway but I'll get used I think. The 109 hp engine is very amazing and pretty peppy.
Completely different from my 2k3 civic.
The room on the back wooow!! Enough roomy to put my mother in law there!
