Machining rotors is fine, as long as there is enough material. I imagine you haven't had them machined before, so I'd bet it would be okay. A reputable shop will tell you if they can't be machined.

Cool. Yeah this is my first time servicing the brakes which isnt bad after 103000km. Maybe next time ill buy higher performance parts

spryter 01-05-2016 02:42 PM

My car is about half that, and my front pads are close to done, so I figured I would take my time and start buying early. Around springtime, I should be about ready to replace the pads, and I'll do the rotors at the same time.

Still debating whether I should go with DOT4 fluid or not. I've never cooked the brakes, but I'd like to take the car onto the track at some point (meetup at Castrol? :P), and don't want to worry about overheating if that day comes.

Machining was once a cheap alternative to buying new rotors. But with the service price nowadays compared to new rotors, some people advice going with the latter.

My question is, why is it only your first time servicing the brakes past 100K kms? :o I thought it was normally every 20-25K or so? Or maybe that's just me. Lol.

I'm at 55k, and Honda basically told me 60k should be when I do them.

Is machining bad for the rotor? Ive heard mixed things about doing that.

Just get new ones Connor. $110 each and about $110 for pads from dealer. My Dodge dealer charged $68 labour.

OEM pads are $110?! EBC and Hawk are both cheaper. They reportedly wear faster, but even still, they can't burn out that fast...

Well only requiring replacements every 6 + years I am not going to quibble about a few dollars.

Must go through my records as I think coming up for second brake fluid replacement. Going in the next week or so for my annual oil and filter.

Brakes done! Next time will consider diy/upgrade.

Really tempted to get a noblesse or mugen rs rear bumper. Usdm mugen is looking too fat lately

connor55 01-27-2016 10:40 PM

Full tank?! Man and i though 56 cents last week was good

spryter 01-28-2016 01:21 AM

Even the truck is only $40 from almost empty. It almost makes it viable to own. If only the entire suspension system didn't need to be gutted and replaced.

GE8Girl 02-02-2016 12:31 AM

So bored at work. I need it to wam up more so I can change out my air filters. Honda wanted $130 to do it.

connor55 02-02-2016 01:15 AM

They love to overcharge for filter "service" when you can do it in 2 minutes with no tools
