Da Fitz...

For the best launch, I wouldn't just drop the clutch and floor the gas. Back in the days I used to drag race, I found the best way was to ride the clutch a little. Here is basically what worked for me.

Raise the RPM's just above the point that the tires would spin if I dumped the clutch. When I launched, I would release the clutch as I squeezed the gas pedal in equal amounts. I would have the clutch fully released at the same time as I had the pedal fully floored. How quickly the pedals moved depends on how much traction I was getting. Basically I would use both pedals to keep the tires right on the verge of slipping while putting as much power down as I could and keeping the RPMs up.

It takes a little practice to work both feet and is a little hard on the clutch. However, it did help me to get some decent launches out of a FWD turbo Talon with too much torque that did not like to start with out lighting the tires up.

Thanks for the detailed description. It kinda puts things into perspective. Practice makes perfect, that's what they say! Thanks again
