if you think this show sucks, i would love to know what show you think is better. IMO it doesn't get any better...this show is huge, there isn't one any bigger.

quality over quanity. many local shows put on by elite, IA, and int. allstars. have nicer cars, awhole lot less rice, and the judges are much more knowlegable. IMO $85 is too high just because ludacris is rapping (thats $35 for a concert i will not go to). In the end its a good show, good recognition for our secne but i would rather put my money and time elsewhere.

well last year was $70, so thats $15 for the concert...thats not bad, $15 for two people to see a concert.

you must not have been to many NOPI nationals

i've been going since 1999, and the best shows were the 2000-2001ish, since then the judging has gotten just awful, my car won thrid place in 04 in its class and didnt place at all the next year, a girl i went with got first place in 02 and went back and never placed again, both of us drove preludes (me a 4th gen, her a 5th gen) and there were less cars to compete with, and both our cars have several more mods the next year. The judges look for MAYBE 15-40 seconds per car, ask little questions. Less and less cars show up, its mostly just wannabe trailer queens now, the same ones every year.. The price has gone up ( i remmeber when it was $50, shit i remember when you could camp out if you wanted) The japanese driftingwas a cool edition, but thats it, and drifting has been played out for years. Most of the vendors dont bring product to sell, or dont sell anything till the last day.

Last year we went we went as a club (absoluteprelude.com) only one of our 17 cars placed, there were only 22 preludes at the show in our class, the judges said that saturday there were just narrowing it down and sunday was the improtant day. BULLSHIT, the only guy who placedhad a nearly stock car in the same class as me and 5 other guys, AND WAS ONLY THERE ON SATURDAY, NEVER CAME BACK ON SUNDAY. He got 2nd i belive.

I only go now just for the fun of hanging out with my firends and looking at the few nice cars. But the show has gotten very poor the last 3 years or so.

Oh and i could give a crap about a concert, i'm not even going to it. Its a CAR show, not Big Day out.

better shows i've been too

National Prelude meet
Honda-tech shows
Tame the Dragon

I've been going since 96, back when it was at the fair grounds. I'll be honest, i don't go there worrying about if i'm going to get a trophy or not. There is too much there to see to worry about how they judge or whatever. And if you had to judge 5000 or so cars, you wouldnt spend too much time judging each car either. And if you remember, at the 2001 show, there weren't many people(contestants and vendors) there because of 9/11.

I've been going myself since the Very Early days. I've seen the Nopi Nats gone down hill year `after year. It used to be so great to hnag out and meet new peoples. So much of an atmosphere that is sadly not there anymore. The COPS rule the surrounding area now. I can't tell you just how many times I missed the party after darl because the Cops wouldn't let anyone near the track. The Traffic is Horrendous and most of you can't even imagine how bad the traffic really is. As the above posters stated the Judging is basicly NON-EXISTANT...really the judges are JOKES..I've got many many friends that have 1st place rides that dont even place at the Nopi Nats. Most if not all of us Old Skool people stay away from the show. It's too much of a hassle than a big huge party like it used to be. Face it people it is a BUSINESS, they herd people in like cattle and every year raise the prices. I'll prob go but will only be taking photos for various media outlets. I might not even go, all my friends dont care about the Nopi Nats anymore, it used to be the show No-One woould ever miss...sad but M.Myers and his Ilk are all sell outs. If you want to go, then go very early in the morning, walk around before it gets hot then go back to your Hotel room and chill with your friends....the party is at the Hotels not the Show......the car qualty has also gone way down. Not many Ultra nice rides. It didnt used to be this way back in the day...IMHO the smaller shows get my attention.

The Nopi Nats is like the Tuner Scene ---SOLD OUT to $$$$$....

now those are words of a True Nopi National attende

i think this year will be the worst, very few car clubs are going, and from what i hear attendence is way down, even from last year

i remember 2000 you could barely jam a another car in there, last year i could have autcrossed around half the place, and it was a ghost town on sunday

there weren't alot of VENDORs since they had to fly in, there were just as many cars, it was the best show of the ones i went too just cause everyone was in such a really good mood, trying to cheer up from 911
