Hey guys,

My replica mugen grille arrived yesterday through the post, spent most of this evening fitting it and getting it right.

It was a pretty long job and getting it to fit right was a right bi*ch, then again, now it's on it looks great. I went into the task thinking that I'd be able to pretty much do it without removing the bumper.. which quickly changed.. I'm in the UK with a Jazz, so I had no problem with the usual USDM to JDM fittment problems.

I know a couple of other people bought the same item off of ebay, so if you need any advice on getting it on gimme a shout... I'll get some pics up tomorrow when I can get some light.

Any questions on it just ask, I'm gonna try and put a DIY tutorial together using the pics I took this evening, hopefully people won't have to make the massive numbers of mistakes I made!

Right, got some pics, had to take them in the dark.. got home late again..

Got the bumper off to start with when fitting, pretty quick to do







Once the bumper was off it was simply a matter of getting the new grille in, problem was the fittings were completely different. In the end it had to be installed using double sided tape and cable ties hidden behind the grille.

Result after fitting looked something like this.. ignore the tape, it was there to keep the tape touching the grille while the glue dried

it looks great. i like that you left it black.

 

It looks nice. The black grille on the red car looks nice. But it makes the front hole look bigger. I wanted it to get smaller. So I painted mine in the bodycolor of the car.
I also had some trouble get it to fit perfectly. I had to use some double sided tape on the edge on the bottom to get it to stick closer to the front bumper. It also seems that I have a diffrent type of kit. Not sure if mine is the "real" Mugen grille, but it looks likes yours only that I had two mounting arms on the top that should go under two of the screws for the bumper.
Here is some pictures of mine. I have not put in the Mugen crome badge yet, not sure if I ever would. Like it best without anything.

I may put in some black mesh behind that opening. But I'm not sure how that metal mesh should be mounted / fixed to the grille. Anyone here that has used a metal mesh here?

I have been wondering about the install too but it looks like you guys didn't have a problem. It looks great.

 

Hey dude,

I'm in the UK, so i got mine off of ebay UK, it was £11, so much cheaper than those ones, then again, it was already in the UK so the postage was cheap.

Both of those look good, just make sure that they'll be ok on the USDM Fit, the one I've fitted was based on the JDM - which doesn't sit flush with the USDM bumper.

Yep I believe Mugen do make an official part, however, I've also heard that they only produce it for the JDM front end, so if you're USDM it's not gonna fit and sit flush.. then again, i think there's a thread on here somewhere which shows what the JDM Mugen looks like on a USDM Fit

If you want to get hold of one, ebay have plenty of rip-off ones, just gotta make sure they'll fit!

Sorry mate, I've only got pics of my car above, none of the new 09 Fit!

Hope it works out for you though, it shouldn't be too hard though, Honda tend to make their cars easy-ish to take apart
