DIY T1R Carbon Intake
You guys do know you're not going to squeeze water out of a rock. Right? Certainly, have fun from a hobby standpoint, but believing you've done something to outsmart automotive engineers that designed the stock air filter plumbing is only entertaining yourself.
First of all, you're not redoing the intake. The "intake" is the metal manifold between the throttle body and the cylinder head. That part is tuned from an acoustic and fluid dynamics standpoint to whatever goals the engineers had in mind - economy, emissions, and performance.
So if you're not redesigning the intake your redesigning your air filter plumbing. This will have zero to negligible, undetectable effect on engine performance. Worse yet, if you're drawing warm air from inside your engine bay you might see even worse performance. At high speed the ambient pressure in your new filter location may even be lower than stock too, further causing a degradation to performance, though marginally.
If you google "cold intake scam" you'll find some somewhat independent studies on how these things do essentially nothing. It's the same as the 100mpg carburetor, or whatever that was called.
