Making your windows spotless.

So how do the more experienced detailers here do it?

I've been using some Professional's Choice Power Gel sold at Advance Auto Parts (lightly spraying the glass and quickly rubbing it off with a soft cloth) with mixed results. After using the Gel inside and out on all windows and mirrors I use Rain-X Windshield Wax on the outside of all my windows and the side vew mirrors.

This had provided me with decent results on my previous cars but don't know, its been kind of a mixed result kind of thing, sometimes it works great sometimes after some rain I notice the water beeding in different ways in different parts of the glass, sometimes I see some streaks being left over.

So what do you guys do to get your windows perfect? I wan't to keep my new Fit's windows water stain free, my previous car was a used camry wich already had its windows water stained for life, never was able to get those damn stains off, don't want that to happen to my new Fit.

Here's what my dad taught me, he's a big car nut.

Use old newspaper. Take two sheets, and wet the first one. Wring it a bit so there's just enough water to wet your windows. Then dry your window with the second sheet of old newspaper. That should leave your windows streak and water stain free.

(Do this at your own risk, I will not take responsibility for any scratched windows)

u knw whats funny? my family is from da middle east (IRAN) and the way everybody tells me is that they use newsppaer 2 clean the windshield so i decide d it and to my surprise it worked great!!! holy crap its clean! the way i do is:

1) go and get a CAN of stoners invisible glass (spray can style not bottle style)
2) spray it on da area
3) take a dry piece of newspaper (black n white print only) and just wipe it clean

You will not scratch nothing cuz newspaper is very fine and it won't deteriorate like paper towels or rags or microfiber. If you even read hte can, it says that pro's use newspaper 2 dry it. trust me it works great! plus i use it on the inside of my windows where it's tinted cuz its not alcohol based product so it wont harm tint. the only thing i recommend NOT doing is using it near gray or beige colored plastic parts b/c it will leave gray/black streaks on the plastic. if u need 2 clean near an edge like the inside of the windshield, use caution around the edges.

hope it helps!

Yeah, my family has used newspaper to clean the windows as far back as I can remember. It cleans it very well, and the best part is, it leaves NO LINT! Unlike cloth or paper towels! Even microfiber towels don't work as well, at least not for me.

Good, I'll make sure I pick some up then next time I go around. I still got about half of my Professional's Choice Glass Gel wich is actually pretty good but it needs a lot of buffing to wipe off.

I've been detailing cars for 5+ years and I will echo the invisible glass +newspaper remarks. Flawless glass everytime.

ACTUALLY.... i have noticed that the smaller local newspaper SUCKS!! It doesn't work NOTHING compared to the LA times. I guess it's printed or made a different way. Just pick up a bigger circulation paper: la times, wall street journal (big baller status!) etc..., it'll last u at least 10 car washes and its like what, $.50?

The guys who replaced my windshield use this foaming spray cleaner (can't remember the name) but he said windex is just as good when I asked him about it.

BTW, for tinted glass do not use cleaners with ammonia in it. It will deteriorate the bond between the tint and the glass.

I'm currently using Autoglym Car Glass Polish. It's not safe for tinted windows using plastic film.

---- The BEST thing to use is called invisable glass -----

Use that with some newspaper and you will have windows so clean you wont be able to tell if they are up or down.. (I have had experiance) why newspaper?
Simple, newspaper is full of lint. Lint is kinda hard and soft at the same time.. it will take off the big buildup and soft enough to make it shine. it will not leave any peices of lint behind like paper towels will either. just crumble the paper alittle and dampen it alittle. then you are good to go..

Invisible Glass cleans windshields, windows, mirrors and glass with no streaks
