Novice Spark plug / coil pack question with pictures
Hey...I'm new here. Looking for an answer to a problem (potential problem). I'm in no way a mechanic. So I have no clue if this is a serious issue and I'm screwed or if it's not a big deal. The car in question is a 2011 FIT with 298,900 miles on it. So here's my issue. My wife was driving my FIT yesterday and all of a sudden it started knocking and loosing power. She pulled over immediately and had the car towed to our house. So I took off the coil packs and one of them was destroyed and the spark plug came out with it. Obviously not normal because it's supposed to be screwed in. Spark plug came out in one piece. I took a picture of where it's supposed to be screwed in and there is a definite deformation. Not sure if this would be considered a small deformation or if in reality it's a HUGE deformation....again not a mechanic. I don't know if some how this spark plug became loose and that's why it came out with the coil pack. Or if this deformation would make it impossible or even dangerous to screw a new spark plug in. Any thoughts would be amazing and I appreciate it. It may be completely obvious to many of you, but total novice here so I truly have no clue.
EDIT TO ADD: I just read some other posts on this same issue. I guess it's called spark plug blowout? I have not tried to screw in a spark plug yet, because I didn't want to do any further damage. So...still looking for any thoughts based on the picture of the top of the cylinder.
EDIT #2: Lightly tried to screw in spark plug....just fingertight....to see if there were any threads left. It did screw in. Again, only did it very lightly. But my guess is that with that deformation, the plug isn't going to seal properly and i'll just get gas/oil shooting into there? Is this a good guess? This is the destroyed coil pack This is inside and you can see the deformation at the bottom of the part the spark plug gets screwed into
