Question Regular Gasoline As Opposed to High Ocatane?

I just bought a brand new FIT yesterday and I love it!!! I've been known to baby my vehicles. Prompt oil changes, best gasoline, yada yada yada...
Honda suggested that I put regular unleaded in my new fit, and always. I have a really hard time with that....Is it true?

it's engineered to run on 87 octane,,,you get no benifit from running higher octane gas, just costs more. It's more important that you buy good QUALITY gas from a major brand than the higher octane IMHO. Trust the Honda engineers.

Yes it's OK to use regular. No benefit with premium. I use Top Tier Gasoline

Waste of money mate, but if it makes you feel better, go ahead and buy regular gas and just send me the cash difference for high octane each time you fill up.

I bought my Fit in May and a few weeks later went to go fill up the tank and decided to get supreme! Chevron - this is what my Ford Ranger always took and it would run so nice but would ping on regular unleaded. So I decided that that would be best for the new ride. Little Fit hated the supreme - cough, choked and flpttttt on the gas. I ran that tank out as fast as I could. Once I refilled with regular (cheap) gas the car ran just like new again. I have only used regular unleaded since then without any problems at all. Save your money and enjoy the extra jingle in your pocket!

thanks guy! I hadn't known these top-tier companies existed. Fortunately I always figured the more bigger known companies would be better. Fill up the Fit only with Conoco or QT 87 so far.. glad I was doing it some good.
