Question 6000 Mile valve lifter tick normal?

My engine was so quiet when new I could hardly hear it! Now, given it's been cold here, but it seems odd to me that my engine seems to be developing a valve lifter tick when warmed up, unless something else ticks like a loose lifter when it's cold. With roller tappets and synthetic oil, how could a valve go out of adjustment so soon unless someone in Japan didn't tighten it propoerly on the line? Anyone know if the valves are adjusted robotically at the factory or man-ually? What's your experience and what do you think?

Mine ticks too. I am also wondering if this is normal, which I am certain it is.

Last night at -20 I stopped to get gas and it was ticking at idle initially. Then I let it run for about ten minutes while I went in to the convenience store, and when I came out it had the "normal" valve lash symphony, which really sounds quite healthy. So I'm wondering if the below zero air entering the engine compartment and flowing through the radiator at highway speeds (65 mph) is keeping the engine a bit too cool or else making something else tick temporarily. At initial startup it's pretty quiet and when it's been sitting idling it quiets down, but after driving even 40 miles in the cold at highway speed, when I stop it ticks noticeably. Any
Honda mechanics out there that can 'splain that? Thanks.

I guess that line of logic works for me, also! Whereabouts in Michigan? I was born in Detroit, Graduated HS in Algonac, Went to college in Port Huron and Marquette, lived across the river from Menominee, sought work in the Leelenau, backpacked Isle Royale and had my honeymoon in the Keewenaw...we call Alaska "da Big U.P.!"

i'm sure it def has to do with colder temp/air. when i start my car i always wait until the little cold temp light goes off before i drive. while it's sitting there warming up, i can hear the that "tick" you mention. and i notice it's def more pronounced since i put a drop in, and takes a little longer to warm up now too, with the drop in. i'm assuming cuz of the increased flow of colder air from outside. but as soon as the idle's down and she's back to temp everything sounds like an audible orgasm again.

i don't think a drop-in filter would have that kind of noticeable effect on the engine warming up or temperature of the air.

I'm going to let it be until it ticks audibly above and beyond the usual symphony on a hot summer day when fully warmed up. Unless I just can't stand it around 60K miles and need to see that beautiful rocker train for myself.

ya know honestly i wasn't even worried about it when i started noticing it. for one it only does it when i first turn my car on and is warming up but even then to me it just sounded like an old worn out tinny four banger honda used civic engine but then like i said as soon as that little cold temp light goes off it's super silky smooth purring like a new born baby kitten with that distinct honda family dna technology.

I am around 7,000 miles on my Fit and the only ticking I notice is during the initial startup. After a few minutes the ticking goes away.
We all have to keep in mind also we are dealing with;
1. An extremely small engine
2. Honda engine

With the combination of the two, you can bet your lil' L15A is going to be noisy. Honda engines have always been loud (even at idle) and smaller engines seem to make alot more noise then larger ones.
IMO I would also look into using a fuel injector cleaner that would also help keep your engine running smoothly. I have been using a Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner product every third fill up, costs about 5 bucks, NO TICKING and safe for our engines. Hope this helps.
