anyone notice gas sloshing back and forth in car!!
just noticed this day after I bought car, was riding w.windows up no tunes and I came to a quick stop in traffic, then I heard some liquid sloshing sound back and forth did it a couple of times on the way home, and the shit won't stop.only happens at quick stops. I know the tank is in the middle of the car but come on man that shit really gets on my nerves. brand new 2008 and I'm already having issues........someone pleez tell me there's a fix to this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is actually normal, the car does not have a lot of noise dampening material so it will be easier to hear more noises. I hear the same thing with my fit and I dont think that it is abnormal, because the gas will slosh around in a tank its just easier to hear with our cars because the tank is right underneith the front driver and passenger seats.

dude this has been covered over liek 10 times, please search.
Yes the gas tank is right underneath you so u will hear it. It's totally normal. |
not true I had a 2007 base Fit that did not do this, lowered on gf210's w/15 in falken hanabes', had to trade it in for personal reasons but never once did I hear any sloshing of gas and I drove that thing hard!!!!
|
I hear the gas every time I go up my drive way or stop hard. It's normal.Honda put the gas tank in the center of the car for better weight balance. If it bother's you,you could alway's buy a exhaust:) .
|
As mentioned above, it is a well documented fact from many, many owners of Fits...the sloshing of gas in the tank can, and will, be heard to a higher degree in the passenger compartment. I have a 2007 Fit Sport...always have heard the gas move about in the tank...there is no difference in tank locations between the base Fit and Fit Sport...
It's not a big deal, nothing to worry about but a bit of extra noise in the cabin. Turn up the tunes. If this was a $40k+ vehicle, I'd worry...but for sub $20k...sometin' has got to give. |
at first you know i was like.. jesus, thats kinda loud. but i only hear it when im backing up into my garage. it doesnt bug me. i have so many other sounds going on that i dont even notice any of them anymore(ie rubbing, scraping, creeking)
|
do what i do, just fill your tank 1/3 every time. problem solved! you will get better gas mileage aswell.
|
most Fits do it, your car is ok:)
It bugged the hell outta me for a bit (and I thought I was the last person on earth who would get used to it:rolleyes: ) ...but I did get used to it and now it just adds to the character of this car. I actually notice it ALL the time driving and stopping and such, but you just get over it. This car in my opinion has quite a few quirks like just today my brakes did an odd sound and shudder very rapidly on three 5mph stops in a parking lot (going really slow) SCARED THE CRAP OUTTA ME! But I think I remember reading that this is normal and happens from time to time and its the ABS resetting itself or something (I will have to look it up again) Back to the gas thing, you can actually hear it in many cars... it just happens to be far, far quieter because of the tank location and sound proofing and the larger baffles in other cars to keep sloshing down. |
shit man I guess if you guys say it's part of the ride, cool......looking forward to doing some mods again.hope that someone will clear this up though, I've owned civics and accords and have never experienced anything like this........ordered eibach pro kit springs this time and have 15' enkei rpf o1 on order will have pix up soon.....hope to see some Fits' for a central Florida meet.............peace 08' Fit SSM inna Tampa Bay

yea unfortunately the tank is beneath the front seats, the tanks should have been designed with baffles which keeps the fluid from sloshing around...but i guess they forgot

eeeeeeeeeeeeeee................ Yes, and no fix crank the stereo and drive hard..............:vtec: :rotfl: |
yeah it is quote normal unquote for the FiT apparantly ..i noticed for the first time like last week and had my fit awhile seems to do it after you get to about 3/4 tank
|
What I can't figure out is how I never noticed it before. I've put 3k on this car and today I noticed the slosh for the first time. It was quite noticeable - I could hear it, I could feel it. I have a hard time believing it was doing it all along. Something changed. Maybe the baffles broke off and are floating around in the tank? Guess I'll never know.
