2008 OBD interface for MacBook

I'm aware that the Fit '08s (and all other cars for that matter) use the CAN protocol for communicating with the ECU. I have a MacBook that I want to communicate with my '08 Fit Sport AT. I'd also like to be able to have access to the same data as an SG and make my MacBook do the logging, read codes and whatnot.
My question is multi-part, being a computer expert, but not a car expert.

- What's the easiest way to make a MacBook speak CAN, e.g. what hardware/software combination works well?
- Should I get an RS232 CAN interface and then an RS232 to USB, or just go ahead and buy a USB CAN interface (is it more expensive or reliable either way)?
- Is it true that the Honda Fit only speaks CAN and not the older ISO protocols?

I'd love to hear from anyone who is trying to accomplish the same thing and hear how they did it. If necesarry I could run Parallels with XP or Linux, but ideally, I'd like to focus on making it work on Leopard. If some programming is required, I'm down for it.

I've done some googling and found some information, but any links to useful information would be appreciated, since I'm not quite sure which direction to take, and some of the more technical details are harder to find online.

Not sure if you ever found an answer to this or not. I don't know the answer myself, but I would check out the forums at mp3car.com. They have a section for Mac carputers and another for OBD stuff, so between the two somebody should have the answer you need.

not sure if any mac software available

I'm also interested in getting an obd interface my windows mobile 6 smartphone. There are a few products available that I've found that are bluetooth based (which is a requirement for me since i don't have serial port or usb host on my smartphone). But I don't think there's mac software available. check these out:

i just run vista on my macbook pro because the greddy emanage software doesnt work with macs. if you have an intel mac, i would suggest upgrading to leopard so you can run bootcamp or parallels.

Yeah, I have an Intel running leopard, and have access to various versions of Windows, with Crossover being my normal preference, but what I am curious about is what types of interfaces people are using, and if there exists a solution that works well on a Macbook.

Oh also in regard to engine management... I'm not sure how it works with the powertrain warranty, but I'm definitely trying not to void mine, so any info in regard to that would also be appreciated.
