Cleaning Tinted Windows

So I'm not too sure what I should use to clean the inside of my window, which are all tinted except the front windshield.

Should I just use 3M glass clean and paper towels??

Thanks!

you could, but water works fine. Id use something like a soft damp towel. It feels like papertowels can be abrasive.

Be sure to check out my tint thread in my sig.

You want to make sure you don't use Windex or anything with ammonia in it. It will cause the tint to delaminate.

I use warm soapy water and microfiber towels or a chamois. Paper towels can scratch the tint over time.

You can also use any of the window cleaners from an auto supply store, such as Autozone, as long as they say "safe for tint" or they have no ammonia.

I was told no vinegar in addition to no ammonia products.
They said plain ol' soap and water and a soft cloth.

I tried water first and it really doesn't clean finger prints and "dog snort" very well!

(on the outside I tried someone's vinegar idea and wow what a difference...those water spots disappeared!)

Stoner makes a really good tint-safe window cleaner.

Same thing Ive used you years. No chemicals touch my interior. Unless its a stain remover.

I dont use anything to shine the plastic, leather, nothing. I wipe the dust off with a microfiber cloth and thats it.
If anything, dawn and water.

This. It's called Invisible Glass and I found it in the cleaning products aisle at Lowe's. Spray it onto a microfiber cloth and then go to town.

You could use it on the outside glass after a wash, too, but if you just have some spots or bird crap or something, a quick detailer spray like Meguiar's works great.

What kind of wax are you using? Modern sealants shouldn't give you a problem as many of them are either WOWA (wipe on walk away) or easy WOWO (wipe on wipe off). Wax should come off the outside of the windows with a MF cloth and alcohol or glass cleaner.

If you can't wipe the wax off the glass, you're probably scratching the soft plastic on the visors when you use it. I'd switch to something else. Duragloss products are inexpensive WOWO products. I use their polish to clean really dirty windows then use Stoner's Invisible Glass to reduce the shine. Sounds weird but the polish/orange LC pad really get the grime and grease off the windows but leaves them really shiny. The IG applies much easier after the polish and reduces the shine to leave a really clean window.

Since the Fit is new, I just use the IG by itself on the windows. I use Ultima Paint Guard Plus sealant on my Fit paint and visors. Its WOWA so there's nothing to wipe off after application.

NOTE: this is for the outside only. Do not use the polish on any tint!!
