it takes full advantage of the drive by wire throttle and should be a great product... i am planning to get one in the next month or two..

hope that helps
Nice find. I went with the sport mainly because the CC wasn't available on the base and that was a deal killer for me.

dasher, That's a link above to the location where they found it, where it says "Honda Fit 2007" click on it to go there.

Same here. Was told Sport was hard to get and would take awhile, 3 days later they had one.

Welcome. That sounds about right. Guess they try to get people to take what ever they have so they don't have bother getting what they really want.

Save the ones that are in demand and hard to get for those that won't settle for what they have on hand.

I think it should be possible to add it to a base fit with OEM Honda parts. In Canada the LX model (essentially the US base model + aux jack) now comes standard or mostly with Cruise control on it. When I was buying I was told they were only making them with CC now and you couldnt get it without CC anymore, so there must be a way to add it to a base US model if it is an option on Canadian models. Could be wrong though

Thats what I,m thinking too. Let my dealer know that I wasn't very happy with the story I got put on me. Don't really think they care they just want the money.

good news & bad news

I went thru the parts lists pretty thoroughly for the base and sport models, looking for differences related to cruise control.

The good news:

1) All control modules/computers/etc. appear to be the same for both models.
2) I didn't find any crontrol modules/computers/etc. on the Sport that were not on the base.
3) The cruise control switch assembly (mounts to the steering wheel) can be had for about $50, and a small wiring harness that it uses can be had for about $15.

The bad news: almost all of the wiring harnesses are different between the two models.

So I suspect we have the same issue as adding the audio AUX input... in addition to adding the necessary parts, you have to add additional wiring and tap into the back of the connectors. The picture of the aftermarket kit mentioned above shows multiple electronics boxes that I wouldn't think are actually necessary. So... someone needs to step up to the plate and figure out what 4 or 5 extra wires need to be run from where to where. Anyone know if the service manual contains wiring diagrams for the 2 models, that could be compared for differences?

I have the service manual. And from the looks of the diagram, I think my original suspicion may be correct. Like too many other systems in this car (flasher relay for example), the drive-by-wire cruise control goes through the gauge control module built into the gauge cluster. Every single wire except ground that comes out of the cruise control combination switch (4 in total), goes directly into the gauge control module. Also, like the fog light indicator in the gauges of the sport model, the cruise main indicator and cruise control indicator LEDs are both also built into the Sport version of the gauge cluster/control module, but is non-existent in the base model.

I can tell you where the wires need to go from the cruise control combination switch, but my guess is your base model gauge control module is missing the circuits that actually control the cruise. I certainly hope someone can prove me wrong though, as that was the one thing I wish I had on my LX trim Fit. And to add a slap to the face, Honda Canada decided to include cruise on the LX trim within 6 months of me picking up my car.

Oh well. I suppose I don't really use cruise all that often anyway.

Cluster swap possible? And if so, can you keep the mileage of the existing car Vs. changing it?

I got a kit from the link above. It shipped and I had it installed a few weeks ago.
I just moved from Calgary to Ottawa (about a 5 day drive) and got to test it out..
It works pretty good!!!!!! I'll do a better writeup with pics, but right now I am quite busy... so hopefully I'll have time soon!

Spule 4, Changing the cluster is possibly, but potentially very costly. And I'm still not 100 certain it would work since Rickster said many wiring harnesses are different. Matching the odometer shouldn't be a problem though. Most newer cars with digital odometers have this info stored in the car's ECU and/or can be re-programmed to match.

rushlow, This is very good to hear. I know the Scions and other cars had aftermarket DBW cruise controls available and they worked well enough. So glad to hear the option is there for our Fits as well. I'm guessing it will not be too difficult to wire in the factory control switches with the aftermarket unit either. Looking forward to hearing more about your setup.

Base cruise control?

Hello all, my 1st post!

I am aware that the base is not available with cruise, so my question is, how hard is it to install it yourself on a base? Has this been done?

Also, is it just worth it to buy the sport and sell off the things I don't want/need (sport aero parts, radio, etc) to base owners who normally buy such things?

Thanks in advance!

also look here.

Data Cruise Control w/ Programmable Vehicle Firmware - BypassKit.com

these guys make great bypasses, and this should be a very simple install.

I'm pretty sure the XK601 and Rostra switch 250-1492 is what I bought
from 'the cruise control store' online.
It works fairly well, the switch is wireless which is neat...
...but I havn't found a good place to mount it yet
(probably with some good double sided tape so I dont put holes in anything....)

My only complain about it is that there is no 'Cancel/Coast' button on the switch.
When I move into my new house (in 2 weeks) I'll take some pics of where it's mounted and all that.
