Painted Intake Manifold Cover

So, got my Intake Manifold Cover (that's for you, Claymore ) back from the body shop as I had it painted body colour (SSM)

Now, after installing it into the engine compartment, it's quite apparent that the silver doesn't really show up that well!!! Too much other stuff in the engine compartment!!! BTW, this shot was done in an undeground carpark...i'll have to get daylight shots tomorrow.

My guess is that a painted cover will only look good in a blue, red, orange or white Fit. Black and Silver just don't stand out.

There are only a few colors to go with and it is Spoon Sports Yellow, J's Racing Blue, Tein Green, or Takata Green...

No it doesn't...I've added some extra double sided sticky as there's overlap at the very far edges. I'm still thinking about keeping it or not...will wait a few days and see if i still like the look or not.

Daytime Pics

OK, so took some more pics this afternoon. In the light, I think it looks a lot better than before:

In the pics, you can see where I still have to take off the original double sided sticky from the Mugen emblem. I just put some more under it to fill the gap where the VTEC emblem was.

Well, I had quite a few things painted at the same time, so I can't really give you an idea on how much the cover itself cost.

Sorry

painted mine today!

I found some paint at carquest that is really a close match to VBP.

5 coats later in the sun and here it is.

The paint really matches up nice. Maybe the tiniest bit lighter.

And here's the engine bay!

Looks great!!! See, the silver / grey doesn't really show up that much, but the blue does!!

Cheap and easy mod!

Thanks! I really like how it turned out! I'm glad i found paint because i didn't want to take it to a shop and spend $$$ to have it done.

Nope. 5 - 6 very light coats. Let it bake in the sun for 20 - 30 minutes between each one. Very happy with the paint. I did the same on my element a while back and it came out great too.

Lots of decisions yet to make....In a QUANDRY for-sure....should I go practical with the Fit Sport or go with a S2000, or even a EVO VIII......I'm waiting til Janurary to decide....
