Tire Rotation ???

Do any of you guys perform your own tire rotations? What is the easiest way to do them as far as tool/jack requirements?

yes....i have yet to do one on the fit but on my other cars i use a floor jack and one stand. have a breaker bar (20 bucks autozone) to lossing them up to take off and a torque wrench (forgot price) to put back on the proper torque specs. i have directionals on my other cars so i just go from front to back and vice versa. it shouldnt take more than 15 minutes to do it yourself and saves at least 20-30 bucks

Can someone tell me where to mount my floor jack (front and rear) to jack up the car? Also, on a FWD car, do I jack up the front first (parking brake should hold the rear in place)?

Thanks!

Where do you put the jack as to leave enough room to get the stands in place. I had the hardest time trying to jack up the car and get the stands in place. The jack points are so small. I mistakenly crossed my tires on the first rotation. I will review the manual. Thanks.

I usually just find an empty spot in a near by walmart parking lot and do these in like 10 minutes. (or if I'm not that tired, I ll just do them after AutoX)

What I do is,
I loss all 16 lugs first

I jack up the front center and place 2 jack stands at both front jacking points,(behind front wheels)

jack up the rear on the tow hook.

do the swap, then done! Super easy, just don't rush and be patient. ^___~ V

I use TWO hydraulic jacks. Makes life MUCH easier than fitting stands. Hydraulic jacks are inexpensive...and you don't need the stands if you are not working under the car.

PS I use Ice Hockey Pucks in the jack cups to prevent scrapes...just anal I guess.

I'm guessing you never had a hydraulic jack fail on you. And don't you put your head inside the fender to check your brake pads for wear when you have the wheels off? ANYTIME you jack the car is the time to use jack stands they are cheap insurance against a major accident with the potential for injuries... unless you are clairvoyant and know to the microsecond when the car is going to come crashing down. We were trying to encourage proper safety precautions in the NOOBIE no need to teach him all the UNSAFE shortcuts.

Would take longer, but you could just use the jack that comes with the car, and use the spare in the mix until all tires have been rotated to where they should be. No tools to buy, just takes a little longer is all.
