This thread is to document the progress over the winter of 25/26 of K swapping my free-to-me GE8 Fit Sport MT. I had helped a friend find this car back in 2024 for ~$1500 off marketplace. Salvage title, high mileage, not in great condition but it ran. Summer of 2025 we bypassed the AC on the belt drive but the car was still having charging issues and would periodically go dead. At some point it got reverse jumped and blew a bunch of fuses. A friendly neighbor tried pull starting the car and popping the clutch, but with the secret #0 fuse above the radio dead, nothing came up. Crash bar got ripped off, tore the motor mount. My friend was over it, ready to move on and told me I could have it if I got it out of there. Replaced some fuses, swapped the battery, new crash bar, new alternator and it was running again. My personal business is repairing Toyota hybrids. This car was up for sale along with a Prius, and the Prius sold first. I had a CR-Z and an insight a few years back that I wanted to K swap but never had the time or space. This fit had 198k, salvage title, and a half tank of gas (that's still in it). I did what any borderline AUDHD personality would do and ordered a JDM K24A out of a Honda Odyssey absolute. Found a 2010 accord 5 speed from a junkyard, ordered the Hasport mounts and starting taking it apart for the winter. I have a background in fabrication, so most of the parts are garage made instead of bought. Got the exhaust flange welded and wrapped in fiberglass. Trying to keep temperatures down around the gas tank. Had to cut most of the exhaust hanger mounts off for clearance. Rust free subframe and rear motor mount installed. Silicon glued the rubber radiator and condenser mounts to my DIY lower radiator support.
clearance is clearance Need to cut and trim this exhaust hanger mount down on the pipe side Tons of clearance between fans and A/C compressor
