Quieter than stock muffler
Quieter than stock muffler
So are there any aftermarket mufflers that'll maintain/improve on the MPG and HP #'s, but are quieter than the stock muffler? Not that it's loud stock, but I think it would be nice to make it even quieter.
it seems you are unhappy with the fit (or anycar for that matter), first you want to make sure NO ONE drives with fog lights on and now you want an exhaust thats quieter than stock? just dont turn the car on and you should be fine....
im just not getting you.
just my opinion

Seriously though, there are so many idiots around my area with stereos that are too loud, exhausts that are too loud, spoilers that are too pointless, etc, etc.
I really wish we could dial things back, but I'd just be happy if we could take the small step of banning the Hummer H2 and the Escalade.
Interesting side note on the escalade is that some thugs in one chucked a brick at my friend's BMW on the freeway. He's got a nice sized dent below the window....talk about the type of clientle that Caddy is trying to attract these days.
cant we all just get along? hha
i think we should all do the beep its a jeep, but beep its a fit!
or some other catchy saying that rhymes i cant think of anything that rhymes with fit and means a noise
some cars IMO are just too much - but thats why i dont have a hummer- other people think they need that car so thats what they buy...? doesnt make sense to us bc we have "subcompacts" bc thats what we want

Well this is a first for me. Ive never ever seen someone want a more quiet exhaust then stock lol. To answer your question...no, they are not being made and probaly never will(unless you can make one).
And please guys, lets stay on topic.

Can you effectively sound deaden the trunk area without a lot of work and/or tons of extra weight?
Even though I don't like them, there is something pretty cool about how a Prius can sneak up on you at low speeds.
i was at home depot the other day and saw some insulation and was wondering if i jammed the spare wheel well with it if it would do anything besides catching on fire? is that even possible? maybe itll also make it warmer back there since its sooo long for the heater to reach
Sound deadening does not weigh that much if you just use it in the back.
You can also (its awkward...but...) go under the car and put deadening and mask it off where the rear muffler tunnel is (on the underside of the car)
The Fits exhaust note is pretty quiet outside to others...so dont worry about being a nuisance to others
the car was made with that in mind.
If however you would like to muffle even more, you can try a more baffled muffler from another vehicle (maybe a civic) it will most likely weigh more, but probably not enough to cause a noticible drop in mpg. If you are ever really bored you can make your own and experiment and or take a small muffler of a similar spec vehicle and tear it apart and start testing ideas.
you can put your own 90deg and 45deg angled baffling and expanded or perforated mesh in there. Watch out for the dreaded "tin can" rattle though
. You can also look into the "hangars" and see if those hooks are contributing to any exessive vibration and noise.
About 5-6ish years ago I test drove my friends hybrid prius thingy (just for fun) and I nearly crashed it...as when I pulled back into the parking lot, I thought the car was off (cuz I didn't hear it) and yes I got out of it...and it started its own journey with out us!
The automatics torque is really weak so it didnt move right away when I stopped and got out...then it just slowly crawled away...like it was trying a getaway...to flee back to the feeble side of autoland to graze the streets with its uninspired brethren (actually not a bad car... but I really didnt like it)

If you sound deaden the whole rear with what I used (eDead v1.2 and neoprene) it will probably weight 20 lbs or less. If you want the stock exhaust to be quieter on the outside you can pick up a magnaflow or other brand muffler that sell bigger canister mufflers (also baffled) that will be quieter. The bigger the quieter hence the round type like the N1 are usually loud.
i got a muffler that doesnt even sound like i have an exhuast. its SUPER quiet. im telling...its shamefull sometimes when i hear it. its TOOO quiet.
around here, people are rocking invidia exhaust on there s2000 and those are bloody loud.
and this exhaust is pretty big...but is really quiet. hks super drager. i would say its the quietest exhaust made. and it doesnt need a silencer either.
check it out, its pretty pricey but well worth it.
i rock two kinds of exhaust. the buddy club race spec and the hks super drager. both used for different times when i drive the car of course.

of achieving better mpg.
^^ I agree, snag a larger resonator and sound deadening is the way to go if you want to queit your car down. Run a search, a few guys have done some pretty extensive writeups about how you can deaden the sound in your car.
Been done by at least a couple of guys on the forum now without cutting or trimming. I run 17's on my car... don't like it or think it is too much.... too bad
Yeah I wish we could shoot people that piss us off... stupid freedom, free speech and rights to express yourself & all that crap.
but I'd just be happy if we could take the small step of banning the Hummer H2 and the Escalade.
