AT Turbo Kits

Well a couple of questions actually. Been researching the HKS turbo kit but it seems to come only for MT fits, now is there any kit that you know of, released or pending, that works with AT fits? Also, is the kraftwerks SC compatible with an AT fit?

aj racing has had their turbo on an AT. and yes, the kraftwerke kit will fit on a AT. but for the price, the aj racing kit seems like a better deal, considering it includes injectors, intercooler, and a programmable greddy emanage.

not at all performance related, but intercoolers always create a great visual/phychological impact for both owner and onlooker.

yes i was reading up on that just now. i was leaning more towards the supercharger because its significantly less work involved (no intercooler, no upgraded injectors, turbo lag, etc.) BUT
will you be able to swap the pulley to achieve more boost from the SC
any numbers for whp? (sorry if they're posted, my searching abilities suck)
and probably the most important question of all
about how much power will the AT tranny take before it will crap out? i dont plan on racing per se but i might take it to a few auto-x's down the line.

You will most likely not need to upgrade the Pulley for more boost, it will be plenty fun with the just the base kit. Another advantage that the KWSC will have (seeing you are in SoCal) it will be Carb friendly, which is important to Cali residents.

correction - base kit on the ajr turbo doesn't include injectors. it does include a filter, manifold, up, and down pipe (in addition to the intercooler). i really think that it makes it a much stronger value because most users would probably add the exhaust, which all said will be meaningfully less expensive than the support mods that one will likely add with the supercharger kit (headers - $400, HFC or test pipe - at least $100, cat back - at least $200) assuming you don't do injectors. injectors will, of course, add more to the cost.

anyways, definitely agree that folks looking for carb certification have a strong incentive to go with kraftwerke even if it ends up more expensive. but for those that wanted to add headers, injectors, etc, that whole carb certification goes out the window, at which point i think the AJR kit would be the way to go if we're talking about the base kits. until kraftwerke comes out with the high boost application, pricing, and dyno charts, it's all speculation.

Last time i checked on the aj-r site their kit was $4700USD? $1200 more than the Kraftwerks and make comprable HP. I remember AJ-R was making 147whp when I was at 143whp with a few more mods than I had and at 6psi rather than my 5psi. You can stay COMPLETELY Carb legal if you find a Carb legal Header(DC). High boost Application data and pricing might come as early as 2 weeks from now, maybe sooner! My car is going through the transformation as we speak.

check post 53, i have no info myself if that figure has changed. the price i'm guessing will vary along with the exchange rate, but the two are priced very similarly. since dynos lie, we should stay away from quoting hp figures from different dynos. % gain i think is a better measure, but AFRs, knock count, and 1/4 mile sheets i think would be more revealing.

anyway, i think it's awesome to be carb legal. however, carb legality is not even a factor for a good portion of customers out there, and with that in mind, i'd still predict that people will be buying the related support mods for their base FI kit. given the above pricing and the longer list of support mods for the KW (headers, high flow cat, cat back) to achieve approximately the same amount of power, i just think it's important to consider the AJR setup. depending on who you are, a couple hundred bucks could be a big deal or no factor. couple hundred is a consideration for me, i'd just use it to pay for install and a retune from the base map to make sure my knock counts and AFR was spot on. (which is actually the real difference maker for me between these two kits.)

I am Familiar with the t1r thread as I have read it. Its 165whp, 180something to the crank... thats the almost 200hp claim. Keep in mind that is at 6psi and it MIGHT even hit 7psi as it may spike. That is on the T1R time attack fit which has all the mods I have as well as a few extra The Kits are very comprable as far as the power, the only thing is that the KW is cheaper, and carb legal Ben has done a great job developing the turbo and it IS a good kit.

maybe i'm missing something, page one on that thread has the dyno graph specifying the type s (base) kit with an exhaust resulting in 146 whp on that dyno. so that's the type s kit (approx $3600) plus an exhaust (your choice, i wouldn't pay more than $200).

the kraftwerke kit is approx $3500. so in a strictly base kit to base kit price comparison, the kraftwerke is cheaper by 100 bucks.

i just think that people that know they will be getting the support mods (headers, HFC or TP, cat back, and injectors) to optimize their FI should consider how much more expensive the kraftwerke route will probably be over the AJR setup as far as base kits are concerned. shoot, chris, could you chime in on how much it cost you to net the 143 whp you had mentioned earlier in the thread? i'm just adding prices up in my head, you would know best since you actually have the stuff as to how much the headers etc cost in addition to the sc kit. i'm just trying to be realistic, people will likely spend the extra to achieve parity to other kits out there.

and just for reference, the kraftwere dyno is here:
Kraftwerks USA Products

again, just reference. ajracing could be on an optimistic dyno, kraftwerke could be on a conservative dyno, or vice versa.

I think you are still referring to a OLD price on the aj-r kit. The type S WAS listed up on their site(until maybe 2 weeks ago) at a price of $4700, and that was for the base kit on their site, not including the emanage ultimate.

header-$150
test pipe - $100
Cat back - $400

i think those might be real world prices for the exhaust mods.. i dont know.. I got all mine free. Anyway I have followed the aj-r kit pretty close, so I am familiar with the dynos and the mods on the car.

Here is what im looking at....
AJ-R Time attack fit is at 165whp
exhaust, test pipe and Emanage ultimate

$4700USD + $400 +$100 + price for emanage ultimate

Im at about 155whp on the mid to low side
Header, exhaust, testpipe

$3145(pre order discount price) + $400 + 150 + 100

$5200 for 165whp (i did not include the pricing for the Emanage ultimate cuase i forgot the price for that option)

$3795 for 155whp $350 more if you dont preorder. You still have room to upgrade injectors and be cheaper

At one time the price for the AJ-R kit WAS $3600.... but the most recent price they had on the site was $4700 before it was removed recently.

interesting indeed. maybe one of the ajr guys could chime in with an update on their kit... and dig up what that car's baseline dyno was prior to installing the type s kit. i'd love to see the % increase and the most recent pricing.

i would too, but it seems that they usually just stay in their own threads.

well guys, reference post #80 here: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/aj-r...t-200hp-4.html

1. assuming that you're one of the folks that don't get in on the pre-order because you're waiting on other folks to test the kit out (and thus don't get the preorder discount) and/or

2. if you aren't sponsored so you don't have the benefit of free headers, test pipe, and exhaust and/or

3. if you're planning on getting the upgraded injectors so that your kraftwerke supercharger should be about par with the type S turbo -

i think that the AJ racing turbo will be less expensive for the equivalent horsepower. of course i'm sure that vendors out there could maybe but a package deal for certain items, or kraftwere could team up with those vendors for a complete package, or just extend the pre-order price to be the regular price, i think that the AJ turbo kit is very compelling. just a thought.

Even if you dont get preorder price and order the upgraded injectors and get all the boltons, you are still going to be over $500 cheaper than the t1r kit, and I am still not factoring the price in for the emanage ultimate they are using.

Explain to me again how the t1-r is cheaper?

remember the 165whp they are running is with test pipe and cat back, not just the kit by itself.
