I've driven a fit with the T1R Turbo Kit.

On Saturday I tried driving sumo's car and it was my first time driving any sort of turbo car. And this is what I thought about it after driving Sumo's car for about 10 minutes.

- Pulls crazy from 4-6K in first and second gear, almost scary. Like as soon as you hit 4K you better shift because you're gonna be at 6.5K red line REAL QUICK.
- Sound at wide open throttle with the turbo spun up was pretty intense.
- Blow off sound wasn't that exciting (but sumo is trying to get a replacement BOV that will sound more ricey, lol).
- Torque is way up, the car had me and 2 people in it and it didn't feel sluggish at all when I floored it. Almost as if I had no one in the car in my NA fit.
- At cruising speed in 4th gear the car was normal no extra noise or strangeness.

Would I get this turbo kit.
Yes if the price was lower, and this is not because I think they are jacking up the cost of parts, it's just I think that it's a lot of money and extra maintenance for such a cheap car to start with. But also I really don't like the fact that you lose your stock fog lamps with this turbo kit. As well you are looking at at least $800 for a nice gauge pod and gauges required of a turbo setup.

Am I interested in a Supercharger kit?
Yes. I am interested in a supercharger kit because the way the turbo spikes the rpm up to 6k so fast it was very scary, to someone who hadn't driven a turbo before. I think the more linear power delivery of a supercharger might be better for me. Also with the superchargers you don't need to spend close to $1000 on extra guages. And even better if you go with the JRSC kit I believe the Rotrex is self contained and doesn't need any extra maintenance.

It was cool, but I'm not sure if it's something I want to daily drive, I want someone here to get a supercharger so I can try that out too

i just want to note that the bov i have on the car is a greddy knock off right now, and is not the bov that comes with the turbo kit.

The original bov actully has a very nice sound too it, however its not the ricey pssssshhhhh you'd get from lets say hks etc.

However I am planning to get the HKS one

also, the car also hasnt been dyno tuned yet so its not running to the potential it could it be.

as for cost factor, its true. cost retails at $3600 then install on top, then you have to get gauges, and gauge pod and tuning, an additional oil cooler, changing to motul oil, premium gas, overall which can be expensive to get a really good tune. but in the end. Im truly happy with this kit. Its fast, I dont have a problem with hills anymore, and the fun factor has just doubled! always throws me back in my seat. Overall no regrets

I would think the only thing needed would be a boost gauge and a pod for the guage. Other then that, everything else is the same with SC...better fuel, and better oil. Tuning is subjective based on the map provided, but it can give an increase in performance over the base map part throttle and full throttle.

From what I've read, every turbo application has a BOV, regardless whether it's AT or MT.

However, shifts with the AT are quick and the psh sound might not be as noticeable.

i've driven some automatic turbo cars with aftermarket bov's......one was a 02 or 04 cant remember 1.8t jetta with a greddy ssq bov......it wasn't very noticable, so when the auto tranny shifted i just let off the gas so you couldnt hear the exhaust or engine noise and the bov was alot more noticeable.

it wasn't bad, but on a MT it sounds oh so much better

keep in mind, there is no extra maintenance for a turbo. i really wonder where people come up with that nonsense.

additionally, why would one need a single additional gauge? from what i understand, this is not running a manual boost controller (MBC) so if anything, i get the impression that the AJR kit should be more complete than the kraftwerke kit considering their kit has the option to go with bigger injectors and will require more support mods to achieve a similar amount of power.

in the end, though, one thing that people won't be convinced of otherwise is how they like their power delivered. i think that the swell of power that turbos often produce will make people feel like they are getting more. you either very gently arrive at 150 ft*lbs or get 150 ft*lbs of punch in the face. honestly, 150 ft*lbs isn't all that much and that big arrival will certainly feel more sensational which i think in turn will feel like money better spent.

how much does the turbo quiet the L15. i wanna run a high flow cat, a b pipe and an axleback all 60mm with a turbo but i dont want to be super noticeable driving down the street. i know most turbos dampen the sound of the engine but i was wondering how the ar48 did in this aspect.

at idle the engine is preaty quiet, however up at higher rpms because of the external wastegate it can get quite loud. also depends on your bov too i guess.

I would think the FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER on your FIT after you turbo it would be pretty noticeable? No?
IMO if you wanna stay under the rador...go KW-S/C.

You wont hear anything between shifts with an automatic turbo car. Reason; theres no pressure release like a 5-6speed car. You hear the BOV between shifts on a 5-6speed car because you release the throttle closing the TB. All that air needs to go somewhere. Thats when the BOV is pulled open via VAC and "blows off."

Auto cars; your foot is pressed to the floor the whole time.
If you keep the car in S and hit the gas and release it while in the same gear itll go off.

I went out with Sumo the other day too and even at day time, the FMIC isn't that noticeable...

I've considered getting gauges in the future even when I have no plan for FI my engine. It's always nice to know the oil temperature & oil pressure etc especially when u live in a hot place. I only consider the gauges since I go to lapping events sometimes and Fit doesn't even come with any sort of temperature gauge.
