T1R Short Shifter

Just wanted to do a quick review on the T1R short shifter that Ben from AJR will be releasing in less than a week. I dropped by yesterday and was lucky enough to be the first one to my hands on this.

Shift throws are noticeably shorter and it has a very solid high quality feel when moving from one gear to the next. One little thing that people might be bothered by is the altered position of the whole shifter itself. The shifter leans a bit more forward than stock, but I have long arms so i don't find it to be a problem.

Ben told me that the throws on this were even shorter than the Mugen short shifter! I never tried the Mugen one so I wouldn't know... But i'm loving every minute with my T1R short shifter

Good review! I know a lot of people are looking forward to this SS. Unfortunately I've already got the Mugen SS on my Fit

Sounds like the T1R one will not lower the position of the shifter, but push it forward. If you want a slightly shorter throw and don't mind that the shifter is going to be a bit farther forward, then I'd make the swap to T1R. Then sell your Mugen one to jdjohnson

Ohh Ohh this guy right here. pick me, pick me. Thanks Illusive for the possibility of a sale. I am interested if someone is selling a Mugen though. Sorry for the thread jack.

Damn nice review, Im thinking about getting one too but I just bought the Skunk2 SS kit cause I thought that nothing new was coming out too. My guess would be that you cant use both but it would be cool. Do you have any pictures of it?

I seem to be out of the loop on this one... is the T1R going to be a complete new shifter assembly or is it an adapter like the H-Fit and Skunk2?

i think it's just the metal shifter itself

Yeah all three are different variations:

Skunk2: adapter that goes on the bottom end of the stock shifter with 4 cylinders to lift it higher

T1R: new shifter (metal piece only). Retain stock assembly.

Mugen: complete replacement including shifter and assembly.

ok, a few things... first a pic (sorry not installed)

second i wasn't impressed with the throw of the mugen or at least not after i felt the skunk2. with that being said i prefer my shifter to sit a little higher up being closer to the wheel for my hand to travel less of a distance. initially i also thought of combining the two but i read here that it would be too hard on the synchros. i'd love to see the results if someone combined either of the two skunk with mugen or skunk with t1r. and if you don't like your shifter to sit high, try the h-fit adapter instead of the skunk. i also wouldn't mind seeing a review about the hard mount spacers that h-fit has.

anyways, back on topic i'm leaning 60% towards the t1r between that and 40% skunk... so once we start to get a review or two in (WITH INSTALL PIX) i can commit one way or the other!
