AT tranny vs. nitrous

So I'm going to get my fit here soon and I'm pretty sure I want to go with an AT. TBH I just get really tired of driving the stick now days. However, eventually(after stereo mods and suspension mods) I'm going to make some engine mods.

I'm thinking I'll go with a quiet header-back exhaust and a SRI, however I also want to throw some nitrous into the mix.

Yes, I'll be using the nitrous safely with a window switch and the proper octane gas at a maximum of a 35 shot, most likely i'll usually run a 25 shot.

However, I was worried about how the AT will handle it? Will the 5AT of the fit handle a beating?

Also, I heard someone say that after making engine mods to their AT, they felt like they could "feel the lack of power even more obviously" or something like that, anyone else had that experience with their AT?

****I am not an expert****

.. but i would say that any car that can NOT handle a whopping 30hp over stock would not be able to handle the STOCK POWER.

I think you will be ABSOLUTELY fine. BTW the AT's are fun too.

also, I was wondering, since AT's experience a bit extra drivetrain loss, will the 35 shot be more like 30 to the wheels or will it actually be 35? ;x

i think itll handle it. shoot just think about it. they will have a supercharger kit out for the at fits. if it can handle 5 lbs of boost constantly it can hold a 25 shot no prob.

and they have a turbo out for it already.

itll handle it

well, as far as the transmission itself goes, do you think the tranny is strong enough to still last 200k under a 35 shot?

dude, i don't think an automatic transmission would last that long by itself. let alone with the occasional 35 shot

the fit should be able to handle 50 or 75 shot, 50 on the safer side.

and 200k on an AT tranny? No.

Should be fine for a 50 shot. even a 75shot. Nitrous the auto tranny will just wear a little quicker. Torque converted work like a shock absorber between the engine and tranny, so with an A/T your less likely to break parts. Also with nitrous it's just quick temporary boosts in power. As I always preach though. ANYTIME you mod a car with an A/T or even just like to drive it hard, get a nice big tranny cooler.

just wondering, i know if i use the nitrous kit the warranty will void, but will the tranny cooler alone void the warranty?

Tranny cooler will not void ay warranties, unless a hose pops off and you lose all tranny fluid. (this is why you buy the high quality stainless steel radiator clamps )

it'll hold just fine.

u're not going to be spraying at the moment of it shifting, so all the additional torque and stress will be gone.

i run 35shot dry on bro's auto supercharged scion tc. the cutoff point is well before redline.

you know what, now that you mention it, 2nd gear by far is the best gear to drive in with the AT.. I feel the torque much more than I do at 3rd or higher gears at the same RPMs... kinda odd, and 1st gear is never enough compared to 2nd gear, I love sports mode on my car so much.

I'm pretty sure the Fit auto has a tranny cooler built into the rad. You just need to but a universal trany cooler and mount it in front of the rad. There's no trany cooler kti specifically for the fit that I know of. But there's tons of unniversal ones
